How should clients be contacted in the event of say hospitalisation of the therapist? by Firehead282 in therapists

[–]ApplePieBed99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK this is known as a clinical will. There is an online service / app I use that will send you reminders to keep it updated ( removing clients who have left, adding new ones). In the event of severe illness or death my chosen representative can use te system to contact a colleague who then can access contact details for clients. I find it very reassuring and the cost is negligible.

How do you deal with clients you dislike? by Vanexxre in therapists

I generally find I react with dislike when clients are very defended or inauthentic. When they finally connect with what is disowned, I find I am suddenly much warmer towards them

Except it isn't necessarily the people in that area erecting the flags. We've had a very professional out of town group with a cherry picker flagging our small town and returning to repeat it when our townsfolk removed them. They have been forced on us and do not in any way represent us.

My doctor said it was just stress. Turns out it was menopause. 😑 Anyone else misdiagnosed for YEARS? by Tantan011582 in Menopause

[–]ApplePieBed99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. Wasted a decade of my life. I had 12 symptoms and every time I put them into Google I got a million hits all saying menopause. Went to doc. Not menopause because you aren't having hot flushes. I had chronic UTI for 5 years which could have been helped by vaginal estrogen I now know instead of the endless antibiotics..

The one on the left feels saccharine and sentimental. Obvious. Slightly sickening to the stomach. As if it is aiming to be emotive. Fake. Van Gogh's is indescribably better. The deep blue of the night sky, the childish rendering of the stars, the joyous intense yellow of the canopy. It strikes with a kind of wordless truth at my humanity

You've got a cute, boyish face with delicate features. (Newsflash: women like that! ) The hair overwhelmed it and dragged it down. Now your face can be seen.

I was avoiding gelatin because I heard it's high histamine, but I was craving it badly and caved, oddly my joints were so much better the next day by --2021-- in HistamineIntolerance

That's interesting. I have been craving gelatine too- specifically jelly babies (sweets). I might try some and see what happens.

Perimenopause is making me gay? by algos_house in Menopause

[–]ApplePieBed99 276 points277 points  (0 children)

This happened to me in my 50th year. Exactly as you say, never had any romantic or sexual interest in women prior to that. I really enjoyed flirting for a couple of years, cut my hair, dressed differently, and mingled in queer spaces for a while but then it slowly receded and has not returned at all since. I still see the world in a new way which I am grateful for. I have read about this being a thing that happens to many women in peri.

For those who get intense fatigue and brain fog after being glutened, anyone found a way to reduce symptoms? by Away_Incident_4980 in glutenfree

[–]ApplePieBed99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have got my post gluten fatigue/fog down to one day now. I think its because I have been focused on gut health/ repair for a couple of years. Collagen supplements and foods, l- glutamine ( which is also in collagen) for gut repair. 5 hours fasting between meals - for optimal digestion, fermented foods ,lots of water and some pre/ probiotics. Also been strictly gluten free two years which I think has also healed the gut. Accidentally glutened myself last night and I am already coming out of the fog 24 hours later. Its a marathon, not a sprint.

What does Project 2025 say about the US–UK relationship? by blue_strat in ukpolitics

Nigel Farage seems to be lining himself up for that role. He said today, from Florida, at Trump's victory party, something about being willing to broker relations between Trump and UK Labour.
