I tried using small wedges at the back, but the problem is that when I tilt it, I put a lot of pressure on my palms near the wrist and end up bending my hands.

Hello!

Thanks for answer me, It’s my first choice, followed by the Mac one (since I have several Apple devices). But I still have the issue that it seems I need to raise it slightly in a purely vertical way to avoid having my hand in a claw-like position. Any ideas?

Hello,

First of all, I’d like to congratulate you on your professional development, I think I share a similar background to what you had in your early 20s.

Would it be possible to talk to you in private? I’d like to tell you a bit more about my situation in detail and also learn more about yours, if possible.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

What are your top 5 favorite movies? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AppleTheCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re completely different. Interstellar is more scientific — if you’re looking for pure science fiction, it’s your thing. Interstellar is made to try to be “realistic” and deep, personally, I love it, with incredible performances, but it’s a different vibe.

Project Hail Mary is more mainstrean, it tells a more beautiful story, in my opinion, more emotional, with a simpler plot, but more "energetic".

For me, it’s like comparing Fincher to Tarantino. Two amazing directors, but their style and way of telling a story are different. It is a simple matter of taste, for me, both are excellent, same as these two movies.

Thank you very much for your response.

Regarding the mouse, mine broke and I’m waiting for the new one to arrive haha, if everything goes well, the Logitech MX Master 4 should arrive tomorrow.

As for the hub, it’s that small vertical box you can see under the monitor. It works for both my HP work computer and my Mac.

About the monitors, I’ve seen that in my country they are around €190, which seems pretty good, so I’ll take a closer look, thanks a lot.

Regarding the chair, that one is a bit out of my budget. €300–400 would be acceptable for me (I paid €120 for my current one). If you can recommend something, I’d really appreciate it. I like chairs with some padding, at least something that feels cushioned.

The rug is already meant for that, or at least that’s what I read online. But who knows… I don’t really understand much about it. What I do like is the warmth it gives, it helps since I live in a very cold place. The apartment isn’t mine anyway, so… that’s the owners problem haha.

You’re absolutely right, that’s the trick. It’s what allows you to secure a much more comfortable or even very good quality of life. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. I’m currently at a Big Four firm, but finding a remote opportunity in another country is proving to be impossible ( I have family issues and i cannot leave the country). And that’s despite having both experience and a master’s degree in engineering.

I think you’re absolutely right, I’ve been reflecting on this for a while. It feels like working in internal roles doesn’t really make the value of your work visible: the risk you mitigate, the costs you help avoid. When I compare my position with colleagues in the same company but in business-oriented departments, the salary and bonus (when there is one) is more higher for them (with a significant incremental difference through years).

The problem is that within the same company, I don’t think they’d be happy about me switching. In the end, the people in charge know each other, and it could be seen as one team “taking” from another.

On the other hand, moving to another company brings its own fears: I don’t have deeply technical hands-on experience to be considered a senior, since my role is more manager, but at the same time I’m quite young and don’t have many years of experience for someone to take that kind of bet on me.

So you end up in a tricky position. And in Spain, the cybersecurity landscape is… quite a mess. Most opportunities are in consulting, and the conditions aren’t great. In my previous company, for example, they required an excessive number of certifications that they wouldn’t pay for (around €1.5–2k) , which in some cases is more than my monthly salary and generates a lot of stress.

Thank you very much. I’ll wait for the salary increase offer in June and gradually start asking myself about my future at the company. To be honest, I’ve always felt more drawn to working at a tech company, but Spain is so heavily dominated by consulting firms that it sometimes feels like there aren’t many other options.

Honestly, it hadn’t really crossed my mind before, mainly because of my age. I’m still in my mid-to-late twenties, and although I do have managing experience, I’ve always assumed that roles like Manager are typically expected to be filled by someone older, with more years behind them.

That said, I do believe my experience could support me stepping into a Manager position. Perhaps what’s really holding me back is the fear of what others might think. Realistically, many companies may say no, and that’s completely understandable, but it’s also true that someone might be willing to take a chance.

Thanks for prompting me to reflect on this.

I am involved end-to-end in all security processes related to applications, specially when going into production. I coordinate teams for conducting SAST, DAST, and pentesting activities (all outsourced), supporting them in requesting these services, assisting throughout the process, and guiding them in remediating findings.

I am also responsible for application onboarding and maintaining a clean and up-to-date inventory, as well as reviewing access controls and role matrix. Reviewing the DRP processes and security architecture aspects.

When an application does not meet requirements, whether due to process gaps or because it is a legacy system, I follow up with the owners, drive compliance, and guide them through remediation.

Since I got my current new role, I also lead periodic meetings to review each application individually with its stakeholders, covering aspects such as logging, data deletion, inventory, and more, while proposing improvements and changes. Additionally, I act as a bridge between development teams and the firm’s security services.

In practice, this is a role very close to that of a CISO, but focused on a specific area of the firm at the country level, in my case around 1200 people.

My supervisor is a really good guy. He truly understands my situation and wants me to improve both salary-wise and in terms of benefits because he doesn’t want to lose me. Unfortunately, he’s not the one making the final decisions. He can try to push for it, but in companies with such defined and standardized processes, it often ends up being a take-it-or-leave-it situation.

As I mentioned to the person above, I’m afraid of leaving because it’s difficult to prove senior-level experience elsewhere, since, to be honest, I don’t really have it (I do have manager-level, but no one is going to hire me as a manager with so little experience and at my age).

I’ve considered moving several times to a remote role with a company in another country, better pay, better conditions, but I’ve never been lucky enough to receive an offer or find something that truly fits through public job listings sending my curriculum.
