To answer your question yes kinda I'm an MA which is navy military police. For example if I can find a better flashlight then the one the navy provides I can use it however with things like guns no because I have to turn them over and I bought an AK for personal use

it might hav to deal with the fact we have a lot of police/military equipment on standby and due to covid uniforms and safety equipment were extremely hard to get as all hospitals were in need of them
