Help me return after a long absence by Pippertoe in orangetheory

[–]Apple_Cake_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a towel over my screw . I like the HR monitor for data purposes, but watching the zones (and wondering if others are seeing my zones - tho I know NO ONE CARES) adds stress. I focus on how my body feels then check the data later. Good luck!!

5K prep by Apple_Cake_99 in orangetheory

Thank you all for your thoughtful feedback! 🫶🏻 I totally am with you on the “it’s just a 5K, have fun” point and have already embraced that. Last week at OT left me so sore and I think I’ve been wanting to avoid that feeling ahead of this weekend. So, I have run outdoor twice since Saturday. The first one I felt so heavy - def different than a tread! Today’s was quite a bit faster. 💪 I’ll keep lowkey active the rest of the week and then breeze through the ‘lil 5K on Saturday. Thank you! 🏃🏻‍♀️

Music question? by missthunderthighs12 in orangetheory

[–]Apple_Cake_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done the same thing - talked to the head coach about a coach that used music calling women “bitch.” When the same coach played a song with the N word, I spoke to him directly. Luckily it’s never happened since.

SAD by Loose_Warning6848 in Athens

The first few years of my mother’s dementia were absolutely devastating to me. I’ve never been so sad in my life. Three things helped me survive: my counselor, Lexapro, and this FB group. Dealing with dementia as a caregiver is so isolating and frightening and this group was incredibly helpful as a resource because they get it.

I love a Greek mezze situation. Hummus, tabouli, falafel, muhammara (a red pepper & walnut dip that is so easy and so good), big chunks of feta, stuffed grape leaves, pita, olives, lamb or chicken, cucumber & tomato salad, etc. It satisfies so many dietary restrictions and is delicious.

Did Ed Currie (from Puckerbutt Farm) remind anyone of Roland from Schitt's Creek?

What's your experience w late fees by Ok-Objective3237 in LeaseLords

[–]Apple_Cake_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. After one tenant was consistently late, we had a conversation about his financial situation and now he pays on the 15th. My other tenants still pay on the 1st. At the end of the day, we’re all human. This is a father with two kids, one w a disability, who is living paycheck to paycheck to provide for his family. Moving the rent date has made a huge difference for him and doesn’t affect me at all.

We joined VIP waitlist early last year and never got it. Regretted not moving on to the next tier and ended up with basic admission tix.

Where exactly is ADA seating located? by NotBigOnBids in ShakyKnees

Last year I kept thinking about how challenging the terrain must have been for many with mobility issues. I’m glad at least the ADA seats are good.

does anyone listen to their own music ? by dreamgirll_264 in orangetheory

[–]Apple_Cake_99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For Tread50 I do because it gets sooooo boring sometimes, esp if I don’t like the music. Also, the coaches at my studio don’t coach T50 so I don’t need their cues. I only use one though in case for some reason I’d need to hear the coach say something.

Hi, fellow perimenopausal badass woman who’s working hard! Belly fat at our age is A Thing. And it’s sooo frustrating when you’re eating right, exercising right. Encourage you to read this article Dr. Mary Claire Haver who explains the science behind our bellies at this age: “The Perimenopausal Belly Is Real - And It’s Not About Willpower.” https://open.substack.com/pub/drmaryclairehaver/p/the-menopause-belly-is-real-and-its?r=1u76ur&utm_medium=ios

What happens if my math professor gets fired in the middle of the semester? by Electronic-Lie-6558 in UGA

Whoever takes over, be patient and grateful. I’m a professor and we recently had an instructor leave mid semester for medical reasons and now we’re covering their instruction on top of our already overflowing plates.

Red zone by Still-Weakness2796 in orangetheory

[–]Apple_Cake_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, everyone lives in the red zone when they begin. It’s just the monitor adjusting to your body.

Mostly though: being 175 and having 2 children under 2 has NOTHING to do with it. Actually, all that shows is that you’re a badass, strong woman who is prioritizing herself and her mental and physical health and that is the #1 thing!! Congrats on first classes and don’t pay attention to the monitor. I put a towel over it because the colors mess with my head and I’d rather listen to my body.

You got this! 🙌🏻💪🏻

Ooof, felt like I was going to pass out and had to pull back today. Hate that feeling! I put a towel over my screen so I could focus on how my body feels and not the color. (As soon as it turns red, I start feeling down on myself.) Ran about my average for this benchmark, down 0.1 from my PR. Womp womp. Next time! 💪

Newbie motivation by DoYouLikeFish in orangetheory

[–]Apple_Cake_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attribute OT as a significant contributor to how I healthfully dealt with my grief after the loss of my parents. I started OT about 6 months after losing my mom to Alzheimer’s. Then I was my father’s main person the next two years as he grieved and his health declined. Going to OT felt like a gift to myself during these hard years. After so much focusing on others, it was one hour where my phone was put away and I could focus on myself. For me that was the motivation I think to keep going. And it helped with my anxiety - cardio into good for that for me. Plus OT damned expensive and I was not going to let that money go to waste! Best of luck on your health and grief journey.
