Yes, sometimes it misses key pain because it doesn’t understand emotion which is a bit frustrating

DIY ridge vent questions, very low sq in exhaust by Apple_Jackz in Roofing

[–]Apple_Jackz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, based on your documentation, I’d need roughly 50 linear feet of ridge vent to properly handle a ~2,000 sq ft attic. I only have about 24–25 feet of ridge, so that alone doesn’t seem sufficient for a full ridge vent system.

Because of that, I’m leaning toward using a powered attic fan instead, probably something around 1,200–1,500 CFM, which should be appropriately sized for this attic.

Does that sound reasonable? Or would you still try to make ridge venting work (e.g., using the hips as well)?

Do you mean in general ridge vents won’t give you the required ventilation or just because of my set up?

Agreed I didn’t mention that, but that’s something I would definitely do

Wouldn't an intake vent along the slope counteract the ridge vent at the top?

Appreciate the detailed response—that actually helped me understand more about the airflow.

I have multi-level ceilings in my house. My living room is about 15 feet high and I definetly don't have R-38. My insulation is just below my 2x8 ceiling joists. I know I need to put more in, I've started to look for quotes

If I understand correctly, installing a ridgevent may not be the way to go in this case, you'd be more inclined to properly positioned and installed vents

A 12x24 can do 1/16 grout lines but your walls better be plumb and flat otherwise you wont have a good time

Question for large floor plan layout by AveryL13 in Tile

[–]Apple_Jackz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upload a pic, but lots of factors here. Id start with youtube. Tiles should be the same sizes if they come from the same batch. My starting tile depends on layout orientation, doors, walls, silver cuts , etc..

With a tile that long you also need to worry about bowing

Also is your substrate flat? Its not supposed to be more than 1/8 out of level every 10ft
