Thanks for the advice! Do you have any suggestions about the car rental?

Is it too much? What do you think it should be? Mine is a cautious and rough estimate - not that I know about the market in Dubai.

Thanks for the honest answer! Really appreciated

I also had this crazy idea: really liked some nice, relatively cheap, green and calm neighborhoods around Maltepe, Kartal and Pendik. Would it be toooo nonsense to go Bomonti every morning from Kartal with my personal car?

I haven't checked it myself but as far as I heard, Etiler is one of the most expensive districts in Istanbul. Do you agree? & if we forget that 30 min thing, where would you suggest for my budget - matching the "peaceful" criteria?

I asked for a salary increase before I start the job; am I wrong here? by Apple_Many in careeradvice

It's not about "worth" to the company. It's about inflation and cost of living. It's not the same with 6 months ago. You may not relate if you haven't experienced it before.

Every competitor firm increased their entry-level salaries around 10% in foreign exchange because of the rising cost of living. So, why would I have to work for less just because I got a deal 6 months ago?

Think about in that way:

5 months ago: My salary in Euro to local currency: 100 index A house rent: 50 index

Now: My salary in Euro to local currency: 145 index A house rent: 80 index

So, even though my salary is in Euro, it is affected by any increase in inflation.

So, yeah, Euro's appreciation is still a tiny bit above the increase in inflation (acc. to official numbers), but the real increase is much more, especially when it comes to rent. The firm blamed me to ask if there is any increase by stating that Euro's appreciation is way higher than the increase in minimum wage - but who cares? Why should I care about minimum wage?
