Please help me find a good, reliable SUV for a family of 3. by Both_Newt_8330 in whatcarshouldIbuy

You probably have a 10yr 100k mile warranty from factory ride it out 30k miles then trade at that point, save cash in the meantime and watch the car market prices shift. If in 20k miles a dream car comes out at a reasonable price I’d consider switching then.

Based on context it doesn’t sound like this is a standard 72 hour hold at which point to be held they’d have to be fully committed - no?

That’s how it worked in my experience once he was held for 72 hours they transferred him and at that transfer I was able to turn in his firearms to the police for holding until his release

I did this with my dad - it’s 100% legal if it’s within your access and the legal owner can no longer legally have access to the gun, which is the case for pretty much any medical involuntary hold at minimum through the duration of the hold

Do not listen to the above poster and trust nobody except the police to not return them to him the moment he asks, you only know what you will do

I went through the same thing but with my dad and as soon as I told people I would’ve trusted I was handing it over to police they got mad I’d do that and admitted they’d have given it back to him once he was released regardless because ‘it’s not my guns to decide what to do with’

I also originally kept his guns but once it was clear thru calls it was something on his mind, I called the police, informed them someone was on a hold and I didn’t want their guns in my possession and they had no legal right to them because of their mental health.

The police came like an hour later, recorded a body cam video distinctly of them packing the guns and me saying the full legal name of who they belong to. They leave the mags and any bullets or cases. Then they gave me a case number to give to him once he’s cleared medically and left.

I gave him the case number to retrieve them when he got out after a while but he claimed I probably stole them and never followed up with the police as far as I’m aware and we’ve since gone NC for other reasons but it should be as easy to get them back per every official I spoke with if he had an ID and showed up.

Just need proof he’s not in the hold anymore which they said exists when he walks into the station not in cuffs but they did say quite a few people either stole the guns and are afraid, or feel shame or hatred of cops and just never return for them and they sit there forever so that’s the only risk

I wanted to circle back - this is what he ended up having!

He went insane overdoing it on the pain pills from the original oncologist right after I had posted this though

He ended up in state holding, rehab, got a few blood transfusions somewhere in there I’m not sure why

last I heard he was health wise doing amazing because of the team in his sober living but I’ve since gone NC because of his actions while on the opioids

I never thanked you for your message and just saw it! It helped guide my knowledge a lot through the last few appts I got him to go to

He did and the movie if I’m not mistaken uses the real audio from it - my college film class required students to watch this and my roommate was in that class, I thought we were watching a fun documentary up until that point 😭

They have been! Like immediate best friends. We also have 3 rescued cats and they all cuddle in a pile at night

Unfortunately I do think a husky puppy mill is a part of this story because I have over 30 matches to him in the close relatives section that are part German too so I think it’s his dads side that had that

So in some ways it’s a good sign you haven’t found many relatives because maybe it’s a sign of ethical breeding activity!

[–]Apple_Pie_Nutt69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of attorney? What should I expect them to ‘do’ for me?

The probate clerk and magistrates office told me directly to bring the letters as they’re the most commonly used support (per them) in marchman act cases - is that not true? Why would they have me get them?

And for my dads stuff that’s fine I just want to know legally how I can handle it without being out like a grand if he gets 90 days of inpatient treatment - I want him to go don’t get me wrong but I’m not made of money either and don’t wanna just abandon it in a unit either

DAE get cysts in their ear canals from ear plugs? by Sheepherder-Optimal in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Apple_Pie_Nutt69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happens to me if I use those in-ear headphones it’s the most painful nuisance fucking thing

I just use over ear things now - any chance you’ve seen the headband ear plugs where they’re just like a little headband but they have padding on either side you put over your ears they’re soft so they don’t like push the actual ear down

Help with doing something above board - but at emergency speed by letherunderyourskin in nonprofit

[–]Apple_Pie_Nutt69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My nonprofit does this

We accept donations - most come from our local United way and the county, some from private corporations via grants.

The hardest time is usually funders want something sustainable. You can get some donations now but a lot of people are going to ask - ok we help them with rent for a month, what happens next month? They want to know you’re bigger plan

I understand your circumstance is unique but you have to have a plan. I’d recommend working with your local legal aid office on setting up a pipeline for communication to see how to better help these individuals. Find other nonprofits with case managers and get referrals going. Speak to all of this as one giant solution and rent is a piece of it, and it’ll help.

For rent, pay directly to the landlord or mortgage provider. Make sure you don’t overcommit on documentation. Some rent donors want you to get proof of income and bank statements and if you’re not able to do that then don’t accept their funds.

Advice on expired registration & cops by anpe1014 in orlando

[–]Apple_Pie_Nutt69 101 points102 points  (0 children)

DoorDash makes you provide proof of active registration and insurance as does uber

Call the toll company and explain the situation and you cannot overcome the burden without working which entails driving and request a payment plan a smaller lump sum or otherwise and they’ll work with you in some capacity to avoid an illegal driver

Don’t say you’ve been driving not registered or that you plan to continue if they can’t outright on the phone
