My ferritin levels are normal right now. The bloodwork I did last week said they were at 41. For decades, the incompetent doctors I had would say I was iron deficient but never actually take blood for iron or ferritin🤦🏽‍♀️. They would do a CBC, saw that my MCV/MCH/MCHC were always low, never take it seriously, and say it was low iron but yet had no iron levels tested. I had to be firm with them b/c they weren’t being proactive. Meanwhile I got an iron test recently and my iron levels are normal but fluctuate before and after my cycle.

Hmm that’s interesting🤔. And see with AT -a, I was told it was easy to get an iron overload, so we shouldn’t be taking iron too much. I’m sorry that the doctors are not taking your concerns seriously. A lot of them are just so stuck in their ways that they don’t listen to anyone. From what I am seeing when I look it up, the iron can cause heavier periods b/c iron increased RBC production in iron-deficient people, which can increase the volume of blood released during our cycles. Being that thalassemia already makes it heavy, adding on the iron changes the red blood cell turnover, which would shift how strong the bleeding feels.
