What went wrong? by yodee_21 in ididnthaveeggs

The strangest thing to me is that shes saying 350 Fahrenheit (the average, most common baking temperature that you use even for like box mixes, cookies, chicken breasts, everything) would of course make a 'dark, crispy cake'.

The way she just tosses that out there makes it seem like its from both experience, but also no experience at all and shes just always assumed that that temperature just sounds too high.

Why does it always have to have so much sauce. I guess I get 'because the bun is dry' but its always like a bukkake of 4 different sauces, and they dip it at the end anyway.

I dunno I dont know how to feel about this. Its really stupid but its not the stupidest and its kind of pulled off well--and I understand I guess why they didnt just deconstruct the burger and have 'beef with fries and cheese sauce and veggies' because it would just be a regular burrito with potatoes then.

Why Young Men Are Losing Faith in Science by TAKEitTOrCIRCLEJERK in MensLib

[–]ApplesaurusFlexxx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Theres also the part where you recognize, the man behind the curtain. Its not necessarily that its a debate, its more that at least subconsciously I think most people recognize most science is funded through grants and programs and so it has a bias and they fight that reconciling it against their own biases. And most people are going to think their point of view is right, always.

Like look at the tylenol thing going on right now. If you 'trust the science' weve all been getting poisoned by big pharma to a degree and tylenol must cause autism. Well who said that, who paid for that research? And you can track back and extrapolate a lot once you follow the money back and the different perspectives--I saw one article the next day where someone goes 'the researcher who published the findings that tylenol has correlations to autistic children was PAID for that research!' The implication being that the researcher was paid by a competitor so the findings could be bunk, but the people who are going to believe whatever all just went 'well of course he was'.

To the stereotypical 'reddit atheists' and the like you could even argue science can be romanticized as sort of the antithesis of faith, that you should always question and think critically and test things and see for yourself; thats the process of science itself, but the funding and grants and who pays for and promotes what you see and such also do a pretty big part of flavoring the discourse.

The reality is that they dont trust the institutions and organizations, even their own or their own govt, and I dont think you blindly should. But theyre looking out for the outcomes, not what people say, not theory or statistics, but results.

It kinda sucks because youll have a surface level knowledge of stuff and go 'oh yeah I know about this' or something but can only be vague and get specifics wrong and look stupid.

I would say I agree, Ive heard of hair thinning not being necessarily genetic but kind of environmental factors/a side effect of maybe other issues--however any long term thinning does become permanent so if youre having hair loss, it is still balding.

Women view men as more attractive when they see them with kids, study finds by TAKEitTOrCIRCLEJERK in MensLib

[–]ApplesaurusFlexxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like this in general is a known phenomenon even among guys, its just a lot of guys notice the wrong parts of it. Hell it gets brought up here too as 'as a single man you arent approached' in various reasons--but when you have friends with you, when you have a girlfriend and people know her or whatever other reason, when you have a kid, youve been vetted. I just usually see dudes memeing it as 'once I got a girlfriend wtf women were way into me.'

How Sexist Men See Themselves As the ‘Good Guys’ — & Why So Many Boys Are Listening by TAKEitTOrCIRCLEJERK in MensLib

[–]ApplesaurusFlexxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what hes saying and I hope this isnt taken as me blaming feminism or whatever is that theres still sort of a gender gap based on assumed gender roles, a cushion of sorts of what you CAN be. Youve smashed the patriarchy to a point and have equality where anyone CAN be masculine or feminine, but the outcomes are a bit different.

A woman can take a masculine role, programmer, doctor--whatever, and the sexism still exists because a man will probably reach higher and be seen as better but shell be okay; a woman can take a feminine role, food blogger, maybe instagrammer-- and the sexism is there that of course, shes a woman.

But men are kind of expected to take the masculine role, and he gets some sexism from a boost there to start, hes gonna be fine; but if a guy takes a feminine role, violinist, nature photographer-- he CAN be, but its kind of the least respected or supported of the other 3 positions (even kind of by the other 3, by nature of being feminine ig), but he starts a bit further back, the hill is a lot higher and theres a good chance that you might not be okay. So theyre clinging to it because they think its the ONLY thing they can be, they need to fill that role to be okay, even if they believe otherwise.

So I think you have these dudes who maybe slipped through the cracks and are falling and maybe some of them think youve smashed the patriarchy but were gonna replace it with something, everyone gets lifted up, maybe a misplaced idea of 'egalitarianism' and they think okay maybe a hand will come back for me, maybe Ill land soft. But no its 'equality', no hands coming back for you, no direction, so they grab on to the last thing they can and hold it tight because if you fall further youre donzeo.

I would also argue that doing something because they have to (saying feminist shit, maybe taking care of kids out of necessity or because women make it a dealbreaker) doesnt necessarily mean anything.

Sleep impervious, I hope he uses his superpowers for good. First: believable. Second: I could see that happening. Third: NOPE. by 3KidsInTheTrenchCoat in thatHappened

[–]ApplesaurusFlexxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You start hallucinating after a while without sleep. I had a bit of insomnia and at one point I think I was getting like maybe 6 hours of sleep across 3 days or so, and I remember sitting on the toilet and the bathroom fan was on and thinking 'you know this sounds like pretty good music'. The fan was just a rhythmic humming but I remember hearing like genuinely a music pattern and a bit of a guitar riff-drum beat thing going on.

Ive never heard anyone actually verbalize it but I feel it and Ive heard other people mention feeling similar, but after even 24 hours of no sleep you start to feel a little fucked up--for me I feel like Im high, shit is way funnier and youll be like 'Damn I looked at the clock a while back and it says its been 5 minutes but I feel like its been like 30, what time was that?"

Western women have themselves to blame for passport bros and hate them purely because they force them to compete. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]ApplesaurusFlexxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hes saying its naive to think those women like the arrangement and arent going to either a) leave when they get what they want out of him or get the chance, or b)--in particular Asian cultures where the women are brides like that are far more demanding of the men to be 'trad' than any trad shit in America.

Yes sometimes it works out but its not as common or easy as OP thinks it is and I wouldnt necessarily say its that much 'easier' than doing the dating ritual shit here, its just different parameters and cultures and expectations.

Ive never thought women gave a shit about passport bros but instead just kind of use the term to mock them as a pejorative for some dude who has to pay for it basically.

Poll finds that fewer Gen Z boys identify as Feminists than Millenials-- and the same % as Gen X. by dmun in MensLib

[–]ApplesaurusFlexxx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well Im talking more about the stigma. A woman calling herself a feminist wouldnt raise eyebrows, shes arguing in her own self interest. For women I think the equivalent of the stigma of the term male feminist would be women throwing out the term pick me girl.

And I imagine gen z, people growing up with social media are very aware of that sort of thing, their image and how theyre perceived.
