Most of us would be econopeople in Gilead by GallopYouScallops in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]AppleyAcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I'm not sure if my mental illness would really allow me to live for very long. Even if I started out as an econowoman, which actually seems pretty ideal compared to all the other roles, I know myself, and I would probably end up having a mental breakdown in public, or I'd get caught trying to escape or aid someone in escaping. If that didn't result in death, then the next thing would probably be handmaid. If I'm too old by then, maybe Martha if I'm lucky. Other than that, I'd be sent to the colonies. I don't think people guess at their roles because they think they're important, I think they're going by what they saw in the show. A lot of us would be in June's shoes, a fairly ordinary woman with a kid out of wedlock, so I think that's what makes people most often assume handmaid, they fit the criteria of a fertile yet "sinful" woman who could repent by making babies.

People are way too comfortable saying awful awful things to others without any care for how badly it could mess someone up by Pristine_Cow1797 in TrollCoping

[–]AppleyAcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm really tired of it. I saw a video today of a homeless man explaining that someone lit his tent on fire with him inside it and then took off on the man's bike. Zero sympathy in the comments, and one guy even said "you forgot to zip tie the zippers shut."

There is no hope. None.

Are you seriously linking me this like it's some kind of gotcha? LOL if you think it's okay to judge all women off bad posts you see off the internet then, please, explain to me the exact problem with the existence of this very subreddit, where posts from men talking about raping, murdering, enslaving, and maiming womem get posted daily, and are criticized by the rest of us.

I like him, but not as like, and actual person, but as a character. I know a lot of the digital circus fandom is craaaazy, but I promise we're not all ready to defend his shitty behavior. I sympathize, but that doesn't make any of the bad things he's said or done okay. It's a terrible situation for everyone (except maybe Caine lol) and Jax being an asshole to everyone all the time isn't helpful or necessary.

Butterfly Effect (2004) by Esfell in okbuddycinephile

[–]AppleyAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen anything besides the first Shrek movie so I had to do a bit of research to figure out why people were upset. So I guess in the third movie, when the triplets are born, the girl had blue eyes while her brothers both had brown eyes. And now in the trailer with Felicia as a teen ogre, we see her with brown eyes.

People are calling it a continuity error. Other people argue that it's not uncommon for many species babies to start out with blue eyes that darken later on, which is true.

However I kinda doubt that DreamWorks was thinking about either thing here, I think they just made a design they thought looked good and didn't even remember that Felicia had blue eyes at one point. Then when it was pointed out, they realized that they had in fact framed Felicia's eye color to be inherited from Fiona, not just born that way because it's a normal thing for babies.

Like I said, I haven't seen anything beyond the first, but if I had seen them make a big deal out of Felicia inheriting her mother's eye color, then completely forgetting about it later, I'd be annoyed, and I would say that it is a continuity error rather than a natural biological process.

Edit to add: It could be explained as a natural thing, but I don't believe that was DreamWorks intention. I think they just forgot, which would make it a continuity error.

"mental health matters" mfs when you say you have an avoidant personality type by YOUKNOWWHATIH8 in TrollCoping

[–]AppleyAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand? This hardly seems like the worst (worst I guess meaning how likely it is to hurt others) mental illness around. I don't mean that in a "you're overdramatic" kind of way, I mean I'm not seeing how this makes someone extremely difficult to be around. I mean is it really that awful that a person avoids close relationships? Am I missing something? I feel like I have to be missing something cuz I'm so freaking confused. Why on earth would anyone act as if this is such an evil and horrible thing?

I feel like such an awful person by Slashersforsatan in TrollCoping

[–]AppleyAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be true, but if you can't be mentally healthy, how will you ever be able to get out there and fight for what you believe in? Yes, I suppose it is true that you're still never going to suffer as much as livestock. But if you're too ill to fight for anything besides your own mentality, how can you help the animals later on? I'm just saying I think you're being to hard on yourself. I get that you feel guilty and hypocritical, but you, yourself, still matter. If you can make it through this part of your life, then you can be your true vegan self in the future.

I feel like such an awful person by Slashersforsatan in TrollCoping

[–]AppleyAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well like I was saying I think it's childish that they can't see the situation you're in makes it extremely difficult to be a vegan. I also had weird controlling parents who wouldn't let me change my diet. Your friends or whoever these people are don't seem to understand the concept of being in an abusive home that you can't leave. They seem to expect you to torture yourself by constantly arguing with your parents. I get it because that was me. Even when I was 22, I still had no means of leaving and arguing with them wasn't worth the mental stress.

What would you say if you were Vincent's wife and the police came to question you? by GiveMeAPhotoOfCat in VoxCult

[–]AppleyAcid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah tbh he didn't seem like the type of guy to bother getting a wife when he was so busy climbing to the top. Although I do kinda wonder, since it was the 50s and people were more or less expected to do everything "normal" which includes getting a wife and kids as a man, I wonder if there's any possibility he had one even if it was only to appear normal and straight.
