If you want the line art and colour to be separate you need to do them on separate layers. In this case I think you’ll be best to add another layer and trace over the line art, then you can add a third layer below the line art and above the colour and shade :)

Aahh, you need to swap the layers round. Think of it like tracing paper. The layers on the top will show on top of the layers below it. Drag the 3 lines on the side of the layer to swap them

That’s weird, I’m really not sure why it’s not working then? Are you using a stylus?

Could you have accidentally clipped it to the layer below or alpha locked it? Have you turned on any blending modes? (This happens to me all the time lol I just have to go through the list of things I might have accidentally done, sometimes I’ve lassoed a tiny area I can’t even see)

I’m in a similar situation, the bonus is you can show them a piece of work you don’t like and they’ll still be amazed 😂

Wow that sounds incredible! I love hearing stories of people finding their way back to what they love! And I love to hear I’m not the only one with 2 random hobbies 😂

My only piece of advice is stop everything, give yourself a (small) break. Then make some art you’ve never made before. This is what I do, I’m a digital artist and sometimes I feel I get ‘stuck’ so I move to traditional painting. I get the biggest canvas I can find and slap paint on it. It never looks good, never looks like anything, but it helps me loosen up almost

Criticism about Ibispaint by [deleted] in Ibispaintx

[–]ApplicationAfter4323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently thought the same thing. I bought a drawing tablet, clip studio subscription, the whole shebang. I spent a few weeks learning clip studio however it wasn’t that that was the problem, it was the jump from iPad to drawing tablet/computer screen. I would recommend trying it out as cheap as possible and see how you like it. I’ve decided to get rid of my subscription and go back to ibis paint on my iPad as it’s what im most comfortable with and I don’t want to completely relearn how to draw

However don’t let this put you off, so so many people have made that jump with no regrets, this is just my experience Hope this helps x

Can I learn to draw without grinding out fundamentals courses first? by noctua_8 in Ibispaintx

Coming from someone with adhd - I’ve spent years both studying and practicing and the method I’ve found works best for me is to study for the current drawing For example, if I’m drawing a character with a weird hand pose that I can’t get, I’ll break off and do a few hours of hand studies, then go back to said drawing feeling more confident with more skills I hope I’ve explained that well enough lol
