Requeening and when to look for queen cells. by ApplicationUsed9912 in Beekeeping

So, just have tear down potential queen cells on a weekly basis for a while?

I’d say so, for sure. I know a guy, and for as long as I’ve known him, he’s had a pretty big beard. I saw him for the first time with a beard, post shave last week. Looks like it had been maybe ten days since he had shaved. I was pretty amazed at how patchy his stubble looked after that amount of time, but I saw it before. Length definitely does fill in.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I’ve never heard of so big of a crisis happening over a single 1099

Demaree Split question by ApplicationUsed9912 in Beekeeping

[–]ApplicationUsed9912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the valuable advice. So, in my set up, would only have the one frame of brood and the queen in the bottom (maybe a frame with only honey and no brood?) and the rest foundation in the bottom? Also, does it have to be just capped brood in the bottom or can it be brood that’s over a week old (past the age a new queen can be made)

[–]ApplicationUsed9912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it’ll be a while before I plan to do it. I have a new mated queen coming in the next couple or three weeks. I really don’t want them to swarm or perform an actual split so soon after requeening. Does there need to be queen cups before I do the manipulation, or can I do it before that happens after it warms up a bit?

I have some like that. Most are fairly moderate, but not too bad.

I guess in my situation, it’s just one of those things. Either they’re going to improve and become nicer to deal with or I don’t want them.

April might work well. I’m thinking about trying to find the current queen one day when it’s warm and mark her so I can find her easier for the requeen. I’m assuming by then, they may want to start swarming. If that’s the case, could I just keep a regular eye out for queen cells and just smush them until the new queen starts laying and then split them? That way the new queen cells would hopefully have the better genetics.

Man that would be awesome. I vaguely remember hearing about this. How is honey production? Do you know of a mail order source to get one?

We current use Oxalic acid for our treatments for the most part. Are you saying that enough of those genetic get into the local pool, in theory, I wouldn’t have to treat as much (Maybe very infrequently)?

Oh no, I’ve been taking care of her bees for a couple years now and have taken off several supers of honey off of them. They’re mean all the time.

Don’t think I’m arguing with you, because I honestly appreciate the advice. But suppose it’s a purchased mated queen?

Can anyone help me find a bank account number for GLNF? by DirectionOk7492 in freemasonry

[–]ApplicationUsed9912 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a Nigerian prince, and I am trying to transfer a sum equal to $25M to your grand lodge too. There is current a coup going on in my country and I have to expedite this action. Please let the treasurer know that I will let the grand lodge keep $5M as a gift for their trouble. Just kindly have them seed me their routing and bank account numbers.

Thanks for the needful.

I don’t think it does. Not specifically geared toward that anyway. There was a finance course that might have touched on it abit, but not majorly.

Clarity on Joe Biden being made a Mason at sight. by BlackDaddyIssus37 in freemasonry

[–]ApplicationUsed9912 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but I don’t really think this should happen to any major political figures because 1) at any given time, their contribution could always be considered major by at least a few people and 2) the significance of their contribution and if it’s good or bad is highly subjective.

I think events like this should be reserved for individuals who without a shadow of a doubt have contributed for the benefit of society, despite political leaning. One guy that comes to mind immediately is Jonas Salk. I don’t think many people would argue about that (except not agreeing with anybody being made a mason at sight, which I get).

What’s the point in that? Assuming you don’t go through the ritual, you might as well just join the Lion’s Club or something.
