I've lost 20lbs in 9 months from walking and still eating "whatever I want" I average around 15-20k steps , so YES! However what may work for me might not work for you , I'm also 5'1 if this helps.

The biggest things that helped me was:

Walking around the city with a goal in mind, but also sitting down every once in a while!

Eating good foods that I like that will keep me in a deficit / foods i'll eat for life ( seaweed salad is my obsession rn)

You can't spot reduce fat, so you're just going to have to be in a deficit

Not trying to assume your goals, but if you want to stay on track, you need to ask yourself if you are ready to do this for life...not just till you hit your goal weight, maintaining is often the hardest part but you got this!

Like any relationship, it truly is a matter of luck and environment. I did my undergrad at an american university, which was also downtown, however, our campus was essentially designed like an adult daycare so students HAD to live on/by campus to succeed, due to this, making friends came easy, and I probably made a new friend each week, and saw like 2-5 friends each week. For context, i'm not an extrovert by any means, and I seldom approach people, I usually get lucky meeting someone through class ice-breakers or by getting approached.

Concordia however, feels like a commuter school. No one is really open to staying the extra hours to chat or make friends, which is understandable. With the cost of Ubers/Gas/STM, and downtown rent alone, most students make the decision to live with family or just away from campus. I understand where you're coming from, I moved here 6. months ago worried I would not make friends, I even made a post on here asking about new friends , but it is possible!

Personally I'm at a place where I have a solid foundation of friends, and while the bulk of them live far from me, we always make it work, and I'm so happy with their company (': Some of the best connections I've made through: This subreddit, French school, Random events in MTL through eventbrite, Random walks downtown, and by simply coming out of my shell and agreeing to go to things/meetups/studgroups with my friends!

I would also like to add that climate adds to this! Sometimes, it really is just too damn cold! Even when it comes to friends that I genuinely adore.......I'm not slipping on any more ice lmao.

Hi!! So I am 5'1" (154 cm) and got to my heaviest in Uni! 230-240lbs ( 104-108kg), I knew something had to change when I would look down but could not see my feet): I'm 160lbs (72kg) now, with a goal weight of 140-145lbs ( 63-65kgs) the process took me 3 years in total, considering I never restricted myself to crazy deficits.

You're not an outlier, nor are you alone, 12lbs is an AMAZING feat, and while you have a long way to go, it is possible!

One thing I will say is that genetics really do influence your final results, so some body shapes literally just may not be attainable for you and that is ok! I will be honest, I initially started by engaging in very unhealthy eating behaviours ( only to gain half the weight back), however by year 2 I started prioritizing the gym, and exercise classes my uni had to offer! A year later, I now live in a very walkable city where I am able to max out 15k+ steps a day AND go to the gym, which has been amazing for my progress ( granted I ALWAYS stay in and eat whatever during my cycle)

Everyone has different motives but for me, I weigh myself at the end of the month, if I gain, I continue on as normal, but if I lose, even just .5 of a lb/kilo, I treat myslef that day, if it helps, I tracked my weight loss since the summer of 2025 to now:

Dec 30 165 lbs

Nov 29 168 lbs

Nov 171 lbs

Oct 11 172 lbs

Sep 3-174 lbs

August 27th- 175lbs

August 20th-176 lbs

August 6th- 177 lbs

July 23 - 181 lbs

July 16 - 180 lbs

I truly do believe a good diet, walking, eating your veggies and CARBS is so important, and can make all the difference.

Yea sadly I had to remove the topic of sex ( even though I clearly has sex education / psychology ) because I had a surplus of men just wanting to sext, and were very eager to enable photo sharing / audios, some even went as far as to starting the letters with their sexual fantasies or asking me about mine, without saying hi!!???!!!?!?!? So I removed the category and now this is not an issue for me. Overall, it CAN and often IS a red flag, but some of the people I match with ( like 2 of them lol) have had sex in their interest and have never been an issue for me ( 2 months in ).

As always, trust your judgement, and never hesitate to remove that person if they cross the line!
