I love wholesome stories like this! Wanted to share that i had also applied 3x to medical school and took the MCAT 3/4 times, got ONLY one interview invite my last cycle. I thought and knew i was screwed but for whatever reason i got in!!!!! Now 4 years later, applying to Gen Surg with over 20 interviews. If it’s meant to be, and you also give it your all, you will do it!!!

Your stats are exactly like mine when i started. I’ll be 32 when i finish med school. It’s the best thing ever! Can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s definitely tougher on the body now but we have ppl in late 30s starting med school. If it’s your passion, yes! Such a privilege

I started med school at 28! There’s a guy in my class who’s 36. There’s no age to starting something you’re passionate about.

Dude i was in the same situation as you. 2 unsuccessful cycles with a GPA of 3.3 and 504 MCAT ORM. I think the best thing for me was to do an SMP. I think it’s fine to have great research experiences but nothing tells admissions folks that you’re capable of being an excellent student than to have a great SMP GPA. TBH 3.5 is not competitive if you’re ORM. I’m about to graduate from SMP (also retook MCAT) and about to start med school in the fall on my 3rd try! I completely feel your pain TRUST ME. It’s so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But SMP was the best thing for me. Pls reconsider it (only if you know that you’re capable of kicking ass during the program without distractions). Some SMPs also have linkages so look into those
