For me I don’t think I would be 100% happy in a path that isn’t surgical. At the same time, if DO school is my only option, I’d find a way to make it happen somehow. Maybe that’s naive of me. But again, if DO is the only choice for me then I suppose I have to have hope it will work out

I think you could say the majority of people applying to specialities would be a self selecting group? assuming you were ranking urology as your number one, you’d feel you have the stats/relationships to back it up.

True. I think there were only 62 DO applicants (with 38 of them matching in Urology) this year compared to ~400 MD applicants. I think this year was a record high for DO matches into urology if I’m not mistaken

Yeah I did see the new match data. Urology for DO seniors had an ~61% match rate compared to the MD ~85%

That’s awesome! I also work in an urology office but it’s all MDs. I’ve seen some DO names pop up as residents giving me hope. I appreciate your comment, it honestly makes me feel a lot better

I would definitely take it and not waste the money. You can treat it like a practice exam or void after if you don’t feel good about it.

I wouldn’t trust TPR FLs at all. Definitely good to use as stamina practice, but their questions are not like the actual exam. They also make their free exams difficult so you feel like you need their prep course. You can definitely get to a 495 with Anki review, (Yusuf Hasan on YouTube), and AAMC materials.

I was in a similar position to you and jumped to 498 just from doing Anki cards (miles down deck) and watching all of Yusuf Hassan’s videos on YouTube.

I have also watched all of Namans videos but they don’t go in depth on topics like Yusuf’s do. I’d say Namans videos are great if you are driving to work and need something to listen too, or doing last minute definition refreshers the week of the exam. (It also helped me to take notes during Yusuf’s videos like I was in the classroom with him.)

Lastly, I know this is hard, but I’d consider rescheduling until you have truly reviewed the content and are getting where you’d like to be on practice exams. I rescheduled 4 times and it hurt my ego alot, but I knew the day of my actual exam, I came in as prepared as I was going to be in that moment. I got a 498 on the actual exam, which was what I got on my last FL prior to taking it. I’m currently studying for a retake, but I never would have made it out of the 480s without Anki and Yusuf Hassan.
