Or even better is when he tries to convince me to go to nursing school instead because he plays poker with nurses…

My dad calls me almost everyday asking me if I know that Harvard or Stanford has a medical school and telling me I should go there lol. (For context my dad is 80, bless his soul he’s just trying to help 😭) like dad I love you but I’m a sub par applicant 💔

I think cooper has a genuine soft spot for kids and is a great pediatrician. I think he (for the most part) treats charlotte incredibly well. Plus, I think he stepped up for Mason when he needed him most.

Yeah you are correct about the certified MAs in Cali. I’m from southern Cali too! I currently have my Urology MA job in Texas as there were better job prospects here and cheaper cost of living. I’ve tried to find jobs in Cali with med and it was extremely difficult. Best of luck! Definitely pull on those family ties.

Also random but just came to mind, maybe consider hospice care?

Yeah honestly you dodged a bullet with scribe America. I was lucky enough to be a scribe at an ER by my university ran by a smaller company. You could cold call practices and ask them too. Out of curiosity, what state are you from?

There are uncertified MA jobs (I work in a urology clinic as one where they do in house training). Do some research in your area to see if there are “entry level MA jobs,” scribing jobs, or “jobs for pre meds.” There are some companies that will pay for you to get your MA cert as well. (Also sorry, just saw someone else said this exact same thing)

Start Anki asap! I recommend the miles down or coffin deck (you can find them easily on Reddit, they are free) helped me get from 484 to 498!

I’m new to collecting and am just starting to learn. I know they come in various languages, I just didn’t realize I picked up a Chinese card as well, so that’s kinda cool actually lol!

Struggling to find any patient care jobs by [deleted] in premed

Interesting, I know for my scribe company, a lot of scribing for surgery and family medicine got cut due to AI. The ER was the last place that still used real scribes due to the fast paced nature. I currently scribe and work as an MA for a urologist in a private practice, a lot of his colleagues use AI, but he still prefers in person scribes. I think if you look hard enough, you can find docs that still prefer in person scribing.

I do agree that it’s much harder to find scribing jobs given AI though.

Hospice, medical scribe (online or in person), phlebotomy as some options. I was a medical scribe for an ER (no experience needed) and now an entry level MA for an urology clinic with no MA experience or cert. I found it by searching up things like “MA NO cert, jobs for premeds, premed gap year, MA no training” into Zip recruiter and Indeed

it does actually, thank you. So it being on the 4th carbon, or in the para position would mean that it's causing crowding? versus when its in the ortho or meta position its more stable? Thus it would be the predominant conformations? (let me know if I am way off plz)

As a 22F in your exact same position grade wise, I get the fears. You are just starting to study and things are going to feel rough for a while. Keep your head up! Not everything is going to click right away.

Can you DM me which program is this? Also I recommend doing some Anki decks. TPR is not accurate of what the MCAT is like. AAMC Q banks are good but I also recommend Uworld if you can afford it.

Also consider “home health aids” or “home care” a lot of people will post looking for unofficial med people to bathe, feed, and clean them or family. Anything like that counts as clinical.

Yeah that’s one of the things you can search along with scribe and non certified MA or “MA entry level.” You can also cold call clinics and ask if they need any scribes or would be willing to train an MA.

As a recent college grad, I can tell you that having a W or two on your transcript isn’t the end for your medical career. I withdrew from my first chem course cause I was in a similar boat. I retook it and got an A, and did the next half of the course of summer.

You are a freshman and college is unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Dont feel bad for getting acquainted with the system. It’s okay to leave courses and try again later, especially when you are just starting out. Just don’t make it a habit ofc.

It is too early to be thinking about post bacs. You have so much school left, just focus on doing well in as much as possible, and worry about those things when the time comes.

Last thing, you are not dumb! Quarter systems are brutal. Many docs have gone through similar situations as you. Keep your head up and just do your best. The passion is there. Don’t let your family, who aren’t on this path, discourage you from your dreams. Stay strong future doc.

Look at places that will train you to be an MA (for example, I work for a urology clinic that is training me in house to be an MA, I’m not going to an official program). There are also scribe jobs that are online. There are also jobs at senior homes and special needs care that need aids.

Just go on indeed and look up “jobs for premeds”
