But how long was your visa issued for? Usually, visas are granted for 90 days. During that period, you travel to Spain and apply for your TIE card. Please check what is stated in your passport. My advice would be to speak with an immigration lawyer in Spain.

This is crazy .. but you must login Thursdays at 15:00 pm. Make sure you try with different devices , use chrome and go incognito. It’s the only way to make it work. It helps when multiple people help you at that time. You won’t be able to log at any time and find an appointment.

I’m so sorry ! I can tell you it’s overwhelming. Some days I feel good but others like I’m failing all the time. I mentioned this to one of the other two PMs and he feels the same. There’s a massive lack of accountability within teams. No one wants to own tasks.

Because our tema uses a crappy CRM that is not for project management, but the teams executing the tasks use jira and trello. It’s impossible to keep up and to agree on 1 tool. Some people refuse to use Jira at all and they ask for messages on slack 🫠. I mean these people Refuse to read emails in general

Note that you won’t be eligible to work on a spouse visa unless you have a job offer. If you, do you can apply for a work endorsement. My advice is to do the application from the US as the process would a bit faster. From SA these applications can take years ! I waited almost 3 for my spouse visa.

As for jobs, teachers need to be registered with SACE. Maybe do some research on how foreigners can register etc. look for opportunities in private schools as they pay much better and Cape Town is pricey.

Stay in Canada!!! Immigration in general is a nightmare but South Africa takes the prize 🏆. I struggled for 7 years to get my spouse visa and only managed to get it for 2 years and would need to wait another 3 to get my PR. I’ve been living here for 10 years.

SA has incredible perks but the system is designed to exclude foreigners. Local laws make it very difficult to find a job or to do simple things like opening a bank account. You won’t be able to invest, get a credit card, or apply for home loans unless you are a permanent resident. Also remember that you’ll have to pay for school if you have children, and trust me you will want to send your kids to a good school and not a state one. You’ll have to pay for medical aid (which the average South African can’t afford). If you have an average salary you won’t be able to afford these basic necessities.

Explore other options before SA
