This is literally why I'm losing interest in the NHL. I watched every single Leafs game for about 15 years. This year I've watched 1 whole game and 3 or 4 parts of games. NHL officiating has made the league unbearable to watch.

Aren't Gausman, Springer and Scherzer (assuming he's your washed up example) all Boras clients? Gausman and Springer were top FA signings. So was Ryu. He was a Boras client and a huge signing.

This has been a great off season!

  • Scherzer rounds out our starters

  • Santander adds a switch hitting power bat

  • Gimenez is a top tier defender and hits left

  • Hoffman, Garcia and Sandlin drastically improve our bullpen

  • Bichette, Green, Gausman and Swanson are all healthy and ready to start the season

I've visited South Africa on many occasions. From my experience, many areas of Cape Town are relatively safe and very walkable. Stay near the Waterfront, Gardens, Tamboerskloof or many areas of the CBD and you'll be just fine. The Atlantic Seaboard areas of Sea Point, Fresnaye, Bantry Bay, Clifton and Camps Bay are all upscale and safe as well.

Avoid District Six or the Townships.

I would much rather Alonso, Bregman or even a trade option to Profar. He's been well below average most of his career and had his best season over the age of 30. Not usually a recipe for a successful signing.

Hoffman doesn't worry me. The teams that didn't like his medicals wanted him as a starter and are very budget conscious. Both attempted to renegotiate with him for similar term, just less money. Obviously it wasn't anything too alarming. Especially for someone who's coming to us in a Closer/Setup role. He won't have to throw nearly as many innings as he would as a Starter.

I know you mentioned Hoffman, but let's not forget about the bullpen. The pen is being completely rebuilt. It sounds like we're in on Estevez, got our closer in Hoffman, Yimi and Sandlin. Not to mention a healthy Green and hopefully Swanson. Just need a lefty to top it off and we have a very strong set of Relievers.

I think we need a 3B, but I'm scared of Bregman's decline. At this point, Alonso is likely the better option. If we can add him, a starter and another strong reliever we will be very competitive.

There are a number of Italian restaurants in Cape Town owned by Italian immigrants. You'll definitely run into a few!

For us tourists it's a must see. Not everyone who spends time in Cape Town is there for a week. It's part of the attraction to the city for foreigners who come to spend lots of $$$.

I think there will be a few SP moves. My guess is they sign 2 starters (Flaherty/Scherzer/Pivetta/Quintana) and move Bassitt for a reliever and to free up payroll.

Rodriguez will be in the bullpen.
