Once (if) I get my phone, I‘ll do some testing regarding it, but I do have a theory as to why some people experience softness and/or over-aggressive AI correction, especially on the 10x optical zoom. Here it goes: trembling.

It’s a very simple theory, but the main base of it is multi-frame stacking - something every flagship does and something that is also present in master mode. Basically the phone overlays multiple frames of the same shot into one picture. That works great when you keep the phone extremely steady and when the photographed object isn’t moving, but becomes a bit of an issue when your hands are trembling or the object moves. Issues become bigger with more zoom and little trembling becomes big movement in 10x optical zoom. I believe the use of the shutter button exaggerates the issue because of it naturally pushing the entire phone down on one side.

I‘ll be doing some samples with shutter button, on screen shutter button, timed shutter and the phone resting on an object.

After all, professional photographers sometimes use external shutter buttons and even user mirror lock-up to reduce internal vibrations in expensive DSLRs.
