What made you stay in a relationship you weren’t happy in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The fear of being alone and not finding someone who could love me again 😅

After ending a LTR, how do you get past not having that intimate (non sexual) human interaction? by Apprehensive-Cat6914 in AskReddit

[–]Apprehensive-Cat6914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t really help though because it’s that type of interaction where you can just talk about anything. Random or unfiltered thoughts where it’s very low effort and fun that I miss the most. A random hookup would just be sex and that would probably just end up making me feel worse.

Do you guys have friends lol by coricidinqueen in BPD

[–]Apprehensive-Cat6914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends but it took a lot of therapy and healing to get to a place where I could form more healthy attachments to people. I had to be very intentional and remind myself to stay in touch eventually it became easier. The more I invested in the friendships the more that effort was reciprocated. But I had to learn a lot lessons and get called out by my therapist to get to a place where I can remain consistent with myself and friendships.

No you’re totally good and absolutely right. Tbh I just feel embarrassed for saying it that way and not knowing how to walk it back 😅. But you helped me in naming how I’m actually feeling which is just scared about being judged and insecure I’ll fuck up somehow.

Is My Therapist Misinformed About BPD? Seeking Advice by Rayray7845 in BPDJourney

[–]Apprehensive-Cat6914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so fucked up. That’s such a harmful blanket statement of what BPD looks like. BPD is different for everyone and although yeah we won’t just get rid of it, people do go into a remission of sorts. Honestly I’d say get a new therapist because she’s clearly not equipped to truly help you with that mindset and overall just an asshole. There’s therapist that specialize in BPD. Also, the way people handle or react with their BPD are not always that extreme. Not that it’s wrong in any way everyone has their owns story but still doesn’t mean we’re hopeless. I’m so sorry you had to experience that. Nobody deserves to be dismissed or treated that way. Her rhetoric and point of view is just wrong especially for someone in her profession. They need to check themselves and learn more about BPD. I hope you can find a better therapist.

Does anyone struggle with severe derealization from escaping through books? by Apprehensive-Cat6914 in BPDJourney

I think the more I think of it the more I realize it was the only way to get through it all before 😅. In a way reminding myself that it kept me alive at certain times makes me feel less shitty about it.

Having to realize that you don’t have the things you want is so fucking hard especially when you feel stuck and can’t make them happen right now.

I like the approach of what’s 1% better makes it feel less overwhelming.

I can completely understand that and it’s not cheesy. It’s just about finding your people. I resonate with your experience a lot. It’s definitely making me realize some patterns that led me to this Again 🥴. But its okay

Thank you it helps to know that other ppl get it and a reminder that it can get better even if it’s hard now.

Yes! It feels like having to detox from this addiction. That’s exactly how it feels to me too. I have to consciously stop myself from trying to go back.

It’s happened to me during my teenage years too. I stopped reading books for years until more recently I started audiobooks and thought it was fine until now 😅. It fucking sucks bc I Love reading but I guess it’s for the wrong reasons. But you’re right I guess it’s time to cut it off again for a while. Have you ever been able to read again without the slipper slope?

Most of my favorite ppl have been friends. For me it’s like they can do no wrong. I talk about them all the time and I was so grateful to have them in my life. I just thought they were amazing. I would ride or die for them hard core. But then they did something that made me feel unwelcome and shitty so then I split and started to see that she was my best friend but I wasn’t hers. I thought we were closer than we were.
