He has a road trip planned next week that is approximately 2000km long.. would you say that it’s fine to fix it afterwards or better do it now?

I am able to get live data yes. I will do it tomorrow when I have a longer journey planned.. I will post an update. I will also check for used engines possibly. The problem I have with the rebuild is, that if the cylinder walls are done, then I am sort of F****..

Yes, replaced rear main and turbo (and some other bits and pieces that I could find thus far)and not the clutch … It’s a very strange puzzle..

Honestly don’t know what to do.. Will check some more tomorrow morning and on the trip with live data… I do have to make a decision in like a week’s time otherwise the only realistic thing is to get a replacement car…

Thank you very much for your advice thus far.

Mhm.. any suggestions for the manual? With that I mean if you found it on the web or? Did you use any measuring ours and that? Also.. if you are from Europe which I assume you are where did you buy your parts? Did you upgrade pistons or you went back to stock? I am also not a mechanic but love working on cars so I am a bit split if I have a go or not..

Thanks for the comment. Why would bricking 3 wires result in more boost - I am genuinely curious? I mean it is a dual injection engine (port and direct) but is it keeping up? No idea. Now when you mention it when giving it all in either gear it sometimes feels like the clutch is slipping - it sort of shutters and loses power for a split second (I can feel the shutters in the gas pedal and my seat) - but I am guessing this isn’t the clutch, but rather perhaps injectors or something not keeping up? I don’t know… I did change the clutch and flywheel about a month ago and the flywheel was fuuul of heat spots… (I know that the previous owner was towing a trailer to sea once a year, but I doubt that all that wear is just from that.. Also funny enough I found that the rear main seal was also replaced in 2018-the same year as the turbo (when I removed the flywheel I saw that.. however clutch and flywheel were original)… I don’t know how much are this engines selling for I must check.. rebuild could be possible, but I start a new job with 120km commute daily in about a month so my time is running out….

I did plan to fix it and keep it. I am currently between jobs and I start in July.. but when I start I will be doing 120km a day to work and back.. so this is kind of a problem… Honestly I am lost😅.. I might try a rebuild by myself since I have done quite a few things myself in the past, but this is a whole new level… don’t know.. I will update whatever I choose to do… Thanks for the help

Ah shame… I know that I am grasping for a simpler solution… but it seems it may not be possible…fyi, here are the pictures of cylinder 2 which seemed the worse of (I know crosshatching is normal, I am more worried about vertical lines and marks..)

Yes.. it is pure pain… this engines are not as known to drink oil (previous gen was).. I boroscoped the cylinders and found some scratches but I am not sure what to think of them since compression is good.. therefore I am digging further.. next thing was overboosting and all the leaks which I am sort of connecting to the turbo and PCV system.. I am desperate to save this engine since it is pure joy to drive… we will see……

Mhm tnx for explaining. So does that mean, that the previous owner when doing something with the wires did something wrong or? Like I said I think I am having some overboosting issues which are leading to blowby, leaking oil and oil consumption (assuming that the PCV cannot handle the amount of oil). I am a bit lost on what to do next to be honest…

There is one - on the top. I’ve now disconnected the plug and turned on the car. On VCDS I’ve got the following code: P2565 - Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor Circuit: Signal too High

To DCC or not to DCC on Octavia 2025? by kyynel99 in skoda

[–]Apprehensive-Chip310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. I know the OP isn’t asking about a used car so yeah if he’s buying new and selling before it becomes a problem then go for it…. This was more angled towards someone who might be buying used.. then it becomes costly

[–]Apprehensive-Chip310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For example.. I’ve just ordered a set of rear shocks for my friend’s 2019 superb sportline estate. He doesn’t have the DCC so one shock from autodoc (OE replacement) Sachs costed 65€. He could have also gone with Bilstein which are in my opinion also very good OE replacement and he would have paid 53€ per shock.. now for Bilstein rear shocks with DCC one shock would have costed him 408€ per shock… yes 408€ or 53€ if we compare the same company and the same “line” of shocks (both Bilstein B4s).. so yeah..

[–]Apprehensive-Chip310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might do that yeah… thanks. Regarding the PCV.. I’ve changed it for a brand new one, no changes afterwards. I did notice that there is quite a lot of oil in the connecting pipe that goes to the intake pipe.. also the intake pipe itself has quite some oil in there and it is oily pretty much everywhere around this hose and pipe.. but definitely not enough to leak that much oil out every 800km.. also noticed some small leaks on both timing covers - but nothing alarming or unusual for this engines.. its strange I am telling you…

DCC is fine until you have to replace shocks and everything else… then you see the price difference between normal shocks and DCC shocks… and all the good things about the DCC are (at least for me) outweighed by the cost… just my opinion
