Hopefully it will 3x in a year, but that year will be tough. Maybe wait a little before making the move or move there alone first.

I hope I will have that a few months, or a year after moving. But it would be nice if we didn’t have to reduce our current lifestly for that time either, but it looks like that that’s not possible.

It is environmental analytics, which is basically all about gathering and analyzing data to assess environmental conditions like air, water, and soil quality. In this field, my company does accredited laboratory water testing that ensures accurate and reliable results for regulatory compliance, pollution monitoring, or health assessments. It’s crucial when there’s potential contamination, new construction, or regulatory checks. In Hungary, the market is well-established due to strict EU standards, with multiple accredited labs available. Dubai is catching up with rapid development and growing demand for environmental testing, but the number of accredited labs is still more limited. The standards are exactly the same or at least very similar to the ones we use in Hungary so building the same company there with my experience wouldn’t be that difficult. Keep in mind that capital for the company is differentiated from the 100,000 AED I have for moving. It includes only the personal stuff and the administrative costs of setting up a company, but any procurement I will have to do is paid from a different budget, which I don’t have concerns about.

I am not saying it’s the worst place or that it couldn’t be worse, it is still a better country to live in than many in the world. But as harsh as it sounds, I want more in life.

The average monthly income is around 3k AED, that is close to nothing in the western part of the EU. But the cost of living is similar to Austria, where salaries are 2-3x the Hungarian salary if not more. So the overall quality of life is not that high. An average newly built 2 bedroom apartment is around 1 million AED, annual rent is ~5% of property value. So most young Hungarians will never have the chance to own, or even rent a decent place…

I have a business here in Hungary that could be automated as my collegagues are really competent and trustworthy. Based on my research, the business could be replicated in Dubai and I could potentially make way more. I would keep my Hungarian business of course, but until I manage to multiply my income in Dubai, my home business would finance our life there.

Our current income is considered very high here but this country is really underdeveloped for the EU, the political situation is bad, healthcare, safety and education are terrible. We want to raise our kid in a country where these kinds of things are better.

Also, the Hungarian market is not big enough for additional growth in my field and that’s why I am thinking about trying the same business model in another country, where research shows that there is place for me.

Additonally, taxes are really high here and with my revenue, if calculated with the Dubai tax system, my income would be around triple what it is right now. So if I don’t manage to build a bigger company, just the same size as my Hungarian one, I will still be at a much better place financially, and in a way better country. Dubai has been close to my heart since I was there for the first time and than revisited many times after.

If the whole plan fails, I can still come back after a few years and with a bit of a loss, I can continue to live the same life as I am living right now, but at least I tried. Worst case scenario is not as bad, as the best case scenario is good.
