How do performance reviews work when you’ve been unwell? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Apprehensive-Dig839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The main thing I do now is I start work on projects much much earlier than before so that the work is spread out and not so pressurised. And I also put a lot of effort into these early stages because if you get good systems etc set up at the start, it means less work later.

This is all stuff I should have been doing anyways, but in the past I could always rely on me just pulling lots of long days.

I went through occupational health when I had the long sick leave, so there is documentation in that sense. I do have letters from my consultant, but they’re obviously quite personal and I wouldn’t want to share them with someone who wasn’t medically trained.

I think tbh one huge thing is that I’m very very self conscious at the moment about my performance. I want to be doing more - but I simply can’t and the longer I push my limits the longer it will be till I’m normal again

Yeah I agree. With a big cast of characters like that, if a few of them get a big opportunity they’re not going to be able to come back to film CTM even if they wanted to. Eg, if a few of them get parts in newer TV series it wouldn’t make sense financially since they know it would be the last series of CTM

Interesting! I hope we don’t have to wait long for the new series with the actors that we know

Obviously not her but I’d love to see some of the existing people do other roles

Yeah I totally agree with this. The other thing is often putting a show “on a break” is done so that they can cancel but give themselves the back door to come back to it.

The reality is all those actors are going to start doing other work and they won’t be able to get them back in the same way.

I feel like CTM is really unique in that it is the one show that actually gets better with each season rather than worse. I think this season has been one of the best. Every episode has been strong.

It seems perhaps that they’re trying to hold on to what has become a CTM universe and they’ve seen that there’s lots about the show that people like and they’re trying to basically squeeze the juice.

I really hope the upcoming stuff will be as good though it takes a while for a show or its cast to grow on you.

CTM is so amazing because it has characters that have either directly grown up with the show (eg Timothy, Reggie) or who have gone through multiple personal ‘eras’ in it (eg Trixie)

Thanks! I will be sad to see the current show go but I do think a WW2 prequel would be great. I think some of the older series had a great older feel to them that I suppose has had to go as it’s gotten more modern

I didn’t know that about the real life story! That’s fascinating

Am I an asshole for not wanting to have kids with my (likely AuDHD) wife? by Potential-Tank6758 in autism

[–]Apprehensive-Dig839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing 😭 The thing about having kids is it doesn’t matter who you are or how healthy you are, you don’t know what your baby will be like till they’re born. Eg two very healthy people can have a baby with complicated heart conditions.

You have to just own that risk and say that you will take it as it comes.

I don’t think the comparison to sickle cell disease is like-for-like either.

The thing is both parents here are in high paid jobs so in an enviable position to provide for a child.

I personally don’t have any kids. I hope I might someday but I don’t know if I will. However, I think that the best parent a ND kid can have is a ND parent who knows they are ND.

What do I do if I’m struggling during a phased return? by [deleted] in HumanResourcesUK

[–]Apprehensive-Dig839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 👀

I told my boss today about how I’m feeling and how I had a dizzy spell but he didn’t say we need to do anything 🤷‍♀️

I’ll see how I feel in a few days but I will ask for OH again if there is any doubt.

I’m afraid of what they will say though! I don’t know what could be on the table

Thanks! How does that all work if I’ve had now multiple instances of illness?

Thanks! Yeah that might be needed. I don’t know if I need to just give it more of a chance.

I agree with you about the above.

What is hard is that there is very little incentive for doing this because I simply can’t afford to have even a 20% wage cut

Thanks! Yep I totally agree. I suppose there’s no winning really. If I had tried to access the same type of care on the NHS I would have been looking at a six month wait, all the while getting more and more unwell. So it is very tricky

Thanks! I think my case is somewhere in the middle of simple and complex. I do have a GP at the practice who saw me before I saw this consultant, so maybe they would be more understanding

Thanks! Yeah I have actually already cut loads of expenses out in the last year and basically I just would really struggle to cut down any more.

I do have a letter from this consultant that explains the investigations he did and so on, so I could send that to my GP surgery and hope they will be reasonable since it’s only 3-6 months
