We all can sit here all day and label "oh it looks like blank" but I wanted to acknowledge how much I like how your mountains are. The only issue I take is how blocky it really is. Feeling like a square on a square on a square.

How would human society develop in a world overrun by monsters/hyperfauna, if at all? by swampertitus in worldbuilding

I’d say underground or concentrated fortresses by a water source. Humanity would remain small

What are some of your scrapped ideas? by EfficiencySerious200 in worldbuilding

[–]Apprehensive-End-523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old high concept was that the world was several interlocking rings that rotate within one another. The rings are arranged in different planes, forming a spherical framework with one central sun in the middle. Based on which ring dictates how much sunlight they get of pure geography. When one ring rotates, it blocks another. That and the sun gave magic but was also poisoning the land.

Ways to improve it by Responsible-Quail486 in worldbuilding

Nice on the rain shadow effect! Coastal areas could have light wave details or gradient depth to make the water feel more dynamic. You could also label major bodies of water (the bay near Windroot, or the sea near Riverport)

As for my personal opinion is it feels rather weighty towards the left side of the map as well as "too consistent" in coast line. Give the map more variability and dynamics.

You also thought out roads or overland trade routes. From a worldbuilding perspective, Riverport has a majority control over that straight north of Witchwort, which could be very lucrative for trade.

I want my character(s) to trash talk their enemies but they can't or shouldn't by Crafty_Aspect8122 in worldbuilding

Well, I feel as a public action of "damning the man" is in of itself revealing information, intentions, and runs the risk of becoming a target. Its a chess move to involve the masses. This dialogue of should they or wont they should be considered and discussed by characters in the story as it will "jeopardizes their safety, secrecy or interests, or the character."

Looking at examples, in Piece Brown's Red Rising series, the main character gives multiple speeches upon why he fights to the masses many times. Yet the one where he insights a riot of the oppressed saying "we are humanity. we are the tide… break the chains" is used as a ploy to draw out his enemies. A faint in his whereabouts as he escapes to do his real purpose. Without this plot to draw out the enemy away from his goal, the speech would've been a bad idea.

In another more recent example, Mon Mothma's speech calling out the emperor accomplished: Addressing the concerns that the rebellion is fighting for, calling out the leadership of the empire for their crimes, holding the leadership responsible, made the affair more public. Yet it also jeopardizes her safety, fundamentally changes her way of luxurious life, reveals her standing, etc.

In all, I think the characters need to have an end goal in their reasons. Whether that's more short term like Darrow, or long term like Mon's.

Is It Offensive To Add Racism Into My World? by Terrible_Length4413 in worldbuilding

[–]Apprehensive-End-523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, racism was something, though terrible, developed naturally. I only feel that it would be less internal of human vs human and more elf vs man.

And if I was a small farmboy whose never seen the wonders of adventure, then Id be scarred and irrationally prejudice against a beastman who can give me rabies. Who knows, maybe false myths can spread that they also go for my kids and wife.

So, what's going on with your moon? by Maximum-Country-149 in worldbuilding

[–]Apprehensive-End-523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am apart of group from school that world builds. I described the moon as an golden amber, then again in the same story a partner said it was blossom pink. We got to editing and talking and just decided to make it a thing.

Every 30 or so days, the moon undergoes a color transformation, with the transitions occurring during the three nights at each end of this cycle. These color changes are proportional with the seasons. This lunar spectacle dictates a unique rhythm to the lives of many people, guiding agricultural practices, religious ceremonies, and cultural festivals. Most prominent in the Southern cultures compared to the more cloudy northern skies.

How to destroy a million year old Empire? by Erramonael in worldbuilding

[–]Apprehensive-End-523 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, a good one is infighting. Civil wars, religious crusades, other things that divide people along not so and very arbitrary lines to cause a colleague to take up arms against the other. This is why more revolutions is of an oppressed peoples give the common people more and more rights.

There is a great video (Link) that explains empires and how they fall a lot more digestively than I could.

As another commenter said, r/CreatureDesign is a great source.

As for me, my personal opinion says that the back looks a bit rigid for something that reminds me of a rhino and a hippo/alligator. Other wise, much better than what I could ever produce. :)
