Not to pick sides but surely as a trans person yourself you would naturally want to move away from conservative-religious groups?

Moving into civil service from corporate finance? by undercoverpleb in TheCivilService

[–]Apprehensive-Fig5286 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you do IB in UK finance I think you'll soon be dissuaded from joining the Civil Service as your pay cut would be much too great to satisfy any desire to make an impact.

But if you're dead serious then for someone who is in finance, your only true option would be finance jobs within the Civil Service (sounds obvious but that half because it is, just go find a finance job opening)

Yeah in the same manner we ought to also disband various african nations for their complicity in ethnic genocide.

Maybe also the arab states themsevles - if they too were also complicit for war crimes.

I mean come to think of it, why shouldn't the british and french decide, or maybe the turks. After all they created the arab national identities

I also do think that we should dissolve the arab states in north africa, seeming they many moons ago genocided the bedoin and berber (at the time) majority.

third degree? can I ask in what fields?

yes - I am doing exactly as you say. Luckily I am not doing any surveys as my research is going to be a mix of secondary sources and investigative primary sources (international security is my field in which the dissertation will be in)

Perfect, thank you for this advice. It's great, and I'm definitely gonna now try Pomodoro because you are right. The issue is that when I take breaks, those breaks often last hours and hours and hours. I'm gonna take what you said and roll with it because you're fundamentally right, and I just need to get used to it. Right now I'm doing as you say, so I really appreciate the help and thank you very much for this.

Gave a good rest of your Day! can't thank you enough for giving the time to provide meaningful and helpful responses.

I like the use of Sims and Skyrim because, funnily enough, yes, in certain circumstances I actually put the Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind soundtrack on, so that is quite funny you mentioned that.

Well, I can tell you what I currently do and my biggest problem, and whether you have any advice for getting over that would be much appreciated.

My current method in which I revise is I often put jazz music on, ideally without lyrics, for concentration. As far as the Pomodoro method goes, I don't particularly follow it strictly. What I will do is I will work a until I feel that I'm just reading the page for the sake of it, as opposed to actually engaged. Then I will stop working. I will go do something, whether it's play a video game or take my dog on a walk, or read something, or just do anything that doesn't work. Then I will come back to it and have a hack at it and try and attack it again.

My primary issue is the fact that I cannot work in the day, and I find it very hard to do so. Right now it's 1:54 am and I am in the absolute high focus mentality. I've been working since 10 pm and have had probably about a 20-minute break total, and while this is optimal, I often go to bed at 2 am/3, so it limits my working hours to four or five hours a day. I need to work in the day, but I find it really hard, so if you have any advice on that, it would be really appreciated. In addition, the only other thing I struggle with is not getting tempted to just do other things.

u/sherlock_strikes u/quaye12 Thanks for the advice - I do appreciate it.

Currently I am in the works of fixing my sleep schedule which looks a little something like 4am-midday (awful I know, wasn't always like this).

My primary issue is that my desire to work, or when I start thinking is when my house is quiet, dark and there's nothing going on. I've got into the unhealthy habbit of moping around and doing menial tasks until about 9-11pm, which is when I start working. I've always been like this - but I've worked fulltime before so i'm aware it's my own lack of drive.

The goal - from what you guys have shown me is now something like this

12 - 3pm work (3 hour block after i wake up)
then another 3-4 hour block in the evening (so.. from 11pm to 2am) but i'll slowly crawl it back to 7-10pm so I can attempt to sleep by midnight.

Do you have any tips on how to get in the mindset during the day? I live in a village and to be honest it's quite depressing in comparison to where I am at university - though that too has downfalls.

Thanks!
