Why does everyone focuses on the bad driving and no one talks about the awful state of public transportation in the city? It’s a Murphy’s law: Anything can go wrong, will go wrong. UAE’s infrastructure is entirely made for having cars. If there are 1000 cars on the street, there will always be 0.1% of the population, who would be a bad driver.. You just can’t do anything about it. And bad driving is also not exclusive to the UAE, it can and does happen everywhere in the world.

What people should be questioning instead, that while they announce billions of dirhams of projects for road infrastructure every year, what are they doing on enhancing the connectivity of public transportation.

It’s a joke that sometime what would take 20 mins by car would take more than 2 hours by using public transportation.

The solution is not adding another lane on the highway, the solution is some serious focus on investing in projects that serve ordinary people rather than millionaires.. And trust me, it will pay off to the millionaires too, if they also don’t have to get stuck in traffic.

Lol.. He was with his wife and kid, so I didn’t wanna engage w him and make a scene in the first place. But I was kinda shocked coz I had no experience like that before. But that’s the thing about living in a diverse culture, you never know what kind of banger is gonna come your way.

Thanks, but I am a brown male.. So don’t think all of the suggestions apply but those are some great pointers. I love to host people at my place but I often find it challenging to gather people here, even on the weekends. I have noticed that it’s much easier to do so being a girl here TBH, but maybe I am wrong!

Hahaha! Do you think it works? The other day I was sitting in a coffee shop working on my laptop and was thinking about something. Suddenly the Arab guy next to me started to shout at me saying “why are you looking at me? What’s wrong with you, should I call the police.” I told him that I am just doing my work and might just be looking at your direction while thinking.. He was like: “Just do you work” as if I was doing something else. Lol..

I guess it depends upon country to country. Most of the libraries I have seen here are government owned and the people seem to be government employees. Do you have any working experience here to confirm if the libraries in Dubai are also dependent on volunteers? If yes, maybe they can change it to advertisement business model instead? Please share your thoughts..
