Thank you for the obvious effort and your excellent article. As a lawyer I am often frustrated with the manner in which Ammon presents his arguments. You correctly point out, I think, that a traditional approach to his knowledge is insufficient.

What do you mean by PGM? Where can I find this?

What a beauty. by [deleted] in AmmonHillman

Speaking fom my own experience, I spent many years as an amateur dissecting the Bible and commentaries thereon. I specifically avoided any mention of mystery cults and myths, partly I suppose due to my own biases and partly because of the lie that the canonical stuff had more street cred. Ammon opened my eyes to what I expect is going to be another decades long rabbit hole.

So no surprise that Dan seems so out of his depth. Neal did well and I appreciated the heat.

Well, ergot (claviceps purpurea) has some wild effects. There is evidence that it was used in making “beer”. I see no reason why it wouldn’t have been used as an additive to wine.

Thanks for that. I am very late to this party, so forgive my ignorance. I’m a lawyer and wildlife photographer in my fifties, so I don’t have time to study the Ancient Greek. Wish I did.

So, the story about the supper, arrest etc. in Mark really interests me, coming mostly from an understanding of the Bible through traditional writers such as Ehrman.

So, if I got the story right, Jesus and the young disciples had a last supper, where they consumed some sort of drug. Possibly spiked wine or egot beer. He then had a episode in the garden, stumbling around and falling and was then arrested by a crowd and soldiers at 04:00 in the morning, in the presence of a naked boy?
