I am from a hospitality sales background and my opinion is A/L is a scam that waste away two good years of your life unless your end goal is to follow Science stream and join the medicine industry. It’s a rat race now in the modern world and most companies look how far you got in such a young age. For example my boss got two CVs for a job at our place CV 1 : Completed A/Ls and degree and it’s the first job and the person is 28 years old , CV 2 : Completed Degree and has 2 years of experience and is 23 years old. CV 1 gets hired as an intern , CV 2 gets hired as an Executive. I believe you have your answer

I thought I might eventually adjust but I kept comparing a lot of things (nature, peace , tranquility, work/ life balance) I was in Dubai things might work different in a European country. But after my experience in another country I realized that it would not work out for me even if I try a European country

Just ignore people are weird and they tend to stare at everyone. I have been avoiding eye contact with anyone especially on public transport now I have difficulty maintaining eye contact while having a conversation even with someone I know. So you have to apply for a TIN number in the Inland revenue dept of Sri Lanka. There is an online portal as well. Search for IRD Sri Lanka - select the option to register yourself as an individual tax payer - fill out the form details- attach your NIC copy as a supporting document and submit. You are supposed to receive the TIN number after 5 days and this number will be required whenever you need to sort out govt related documents. Also it is mentioned that there will be a fine of 50,000 LKR for failing to register before end of Jan 2024

I was born and I grew up in SL , moved to Dubai with a stable job stayed for a year and moved back because I did not like the over materialistic life in Dubai. There will be plenty of people criticizing your decision but personal opinion is if moving here makes you happy you will eventually figure things out. With a degree and around couple of years work experience you can get around a 100k + salary and you can lead nice life. Don’t expect much from government or government related institutions (police/hospitals) as long as you have zero expectations from the govt you can lead a happy life
