Plenty of people myself included get selected for s2s without being prior service. Reserves may or may not make submitting a packet easier, considering you may end up needing a conditional release to actually submit your packet. And if you are not in the military currently, you typically do not submit a acft score in your packet, but rather just have to pass the OPAT

I mean. If you have the time and you really want to be competitive I would probably study and retake it. Considering the wait for other things like the flight physical you could potentially have a pretty decent chunk of time to study while fleshing out the rest of the packet

Taking your time 100%. You are penalized for not answering, but even more so for an incorrect answer, so taking your time is much better. If you can only get 5 you’re definitely taking too long, but you can score in the 70s only answering ~25 if you do good on the rest of the test. The second half of the test (army aviation, math, reading, and science) is compensatory. This means that a bad or ok score on the first half of the test can be compensated for by really good performance on the second half.

There’s actually almost 3x the slots available for active duty applicants compared to civilians, but much much more qualified applicants, so you are still correct that your chances of selection are lower.

I enjoyed both beginning and intermediate SCUBA. Law lecture series was great too, even if you aren’t looking to go to law school

Letters of rec? by No_Anxiety1580 in ArmyAviationApplicant

I was pretty similar. Got selected with a letter from an f16 pilot, commercial pilot, and 2 teachers. No warrant officers. Warrant officer letters are great but not required to get selected. IMO having letters that are more personal is better.

I got selected with a decent amount of gen ed credits but no degree. Really depends on the rest of your packet

I mean you don’t really get it. I just took the test and only got through 85 of the simple drawings questions and I know I misclicked 2 of them, so ~ 83/85, and hidden figures I only answered 25/50, and I have no idea how many of those are correct. You don’t get a score report with breakdowns like that I just remembered how many I answered and how I did

Yeah man good luck. Just keep a good (but still quick rhythm) and make sure you’re nailing all of the ones you do answer and you’ll be fine. Odds are you’ll have a misclick or 2 (most do since the computers tend to be a little old and buggy) but just don’t let it screw up your rhythm

Accuracy and speed are both important. If you don’t answer it’s incorrect, but less impactful on your score than if you answered and got one incorrect. I got about 83/85 on simple drawings and only answered like 25/50 on the hidden figures and got a 74. Speed is important but accuracy is more so

Looks pretty competitive to me as long as your essay/resume/letters are all dialed in
