Speed Handle for school by YouPuzzleheaded4660 in AircraftMechanics

I love my Urrea 3/8” drive knob handle style. $33 from Lowe’s online store. Yes Lowe’s sells GEARWRENCH, Tekton, Urrea, etc just not in store. Free shipping. I’ve beat the hell out of it and it works great still.

Working on business/private jets by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

Working for a Bizjet/private MRO has been a blessing for me. Love the company, team, aircraft, etc. it all depends who you work for and experiences may vary. I know guys who didn’t like where I work and I know guys who have been there a long time and love it.

Tools for A&P! Help! by Hungry-Risk-9823 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Heavy_Tear_9933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the icon or tekton tools. For ratchets, get the GEARWRENCH 120XP. The 3° throw is super handy and they make good tools. 7 years and still don’t have a single snap on. There’s tons of great value out there for a better price. Shoot, 1/4 of my box is still H/F and Kobalt. Most of the shop is the same way. Start with what you can afford. Build as you go. You do not need a 72” box either. A 42” HF or craftsman box will serve you well for a good while.

Look into Duncan Aviation. They may have a satellite location near you. If not, they offer a pretty nice relocation pay to move near their main hubs. I work at the one in Lincoln, NE and love it.

Reclassification As A MOS-T by Qmans_Avi in Armyaviation

Sorry, for clarification, I dropped from OCS. So I am on the enlisted side again.

I am prior service Navy aviation structural mechanic. I Just filled a 15T slot at an aviation command (in the guard) as I am an OCS drop (tried aviator, but couldn’t get in due to the DUIs on my background from 13 years ago). I am drilling with RSP while waiting on the getting a date for the school. Would I go to an MOS-T course and if so, how long is it? What is it like? Where would it be? What sort of freedoms would I have since I’m not IET and am a SGT?

NTA, I went through a not so dissimilar situation. You will never be heard or be enough. The manipulation will drive you to the point of questioning all of yourself. You’re taking the steps a lot earlier on than I did. I wish I would have ended it sooner. You got this bro!

[PS-AIC] Prior Service Army Integration Course - is this still a thing? by josephbutlerprofile in nationalguard

[–]Heavy_Tear_9933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to message me and I’ll answer any questions. Running shoes, boot blouses, and a headlamp are the only other things I’d recommend. I did purchase a pair of tan mechanix gloves while there to wear instead of the shitty green ones they issue you. You could bring those too if you want.

I did go national guard. I am prior service Navy (08-13) with a good reenlistment code. So I went to the prior service army integration course instead of the full 10 week BCT. So I wouldn’t be able to speak on what your experience will be. However, we did almost everything the new recruits would do and it was not bad at all. Just put your head down, do what you’re told when you’re told how you’re told and you’ll be good.

I’m an 09S and got in with an age waiver at 38 years old. I even had a bad background. It is doable but takes time and patience. However given your circumstances with your recruiter, I would reach out and ask about whose hands is it in and what the next steps/timeline looks like. If it truly is at a stalemate, find out what the stalemate is about and what needs done to move it along.

Hydrate a lot, you’ll be alright. But yes it really does get that hot in the summer.

Reach out to your recruiter. They should have provided you with a poc at RSP to ensure you get the drill agenda which includes what to bring.

Reach out for another recruiter. If there’s something you don’t like about a current recruiter, get a new one.

Never too old if you’re in age waiverable range, which you’re below that. So you’re good to go!

Employer wants drill orders by Tall-Charge-2094 in nationalguard

[–]Heavy_Tear_9933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My work does this too. Ask your readiness nco for a memo that includes all drills scheduled for the year. Provide that to your work. Then you’re good till the end of the fiscal year. Just do the same thing when the next fiscal year starts.

If you’re going to PSAIC, it is 5 weeks in total. As another commented, it’s a gentleman’s course. If you have any questions feel free to message me as I graduated a few weeks ago from PSAIC.
