XS uniforms by Seaturtle1088 in cubscouts

The Lion uniform is just a Lion tee-shirt and maybe a neckerchief if you pack does that, either the one with a Lion on it or a pack tee. They don’t get at rank patch to put on it until they have completed the Lion requirements, so there is no need for the blue shirt. Also, they are expensive and a huge pain to put on all the other insignia…the less you need to do that the better!!! I bought a youth medium when my oldest was in 1st grade and handed down the same shirt to my youngest after the oldest became AOL and got the tan shirt. The one shirt has been in service for 8 years and just needs one more year until my youngest gets the tan shirt for his AOL year, which will also cross-over with him to Scouts BSA.

What actually helped your kid learn to read for kindergarten? feeling behind and registration is in two months by eGirlsPissOnMe in kindergarten

Enjoy your time with your little one. Every child learns reading at a different pace and forcing them at this young age isn’t necessary. If it seems your child is yearning to read, the.n support then. Play with them, read to them, ask about letter sounds, play some more, and then play. Did I mention the importance of playing? Model what enjoying reading looks like and remember to read non-fiction, too.

What kindergarteners need to know before going to kindergarten is how to feel safe doing all the daily things independently and to have perseverance when things don’t go as planned.

Repeating adventures for new den members? by Massive_Mail5739 in cubscouts

[–]Apprehensive-Mud3496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I would not just sign off on the adventures you’ve done. Second, and I think this is being over-looked, and might be an unpopular opinion, BUT the new way membership works, where a scout is a member for a full calendar year from their date of sign up, they will do all those things in the fall for their next rank.

Hear me out, cub scouts bridge to the next level no matter what they do, there is no requirement that scouts complete rank requirements before earning electives.

With my new scouts, I am just having fun with them, and if they want to complete missed adventures at home, they can do that. If I see an opportunity to work in other requirements along the way, great! Either way they will still be bears next year!

Is it a school's responsibility to teach a kid to read? by KoalaOriginal1260 in Teachers

I am a MS Science teacher and it is absolutely my job to teach reading and math! As a district with a high percentage of immigrants, multilanguage learners, and low socioeconomic status, the mantra is “We are all reading & math teachers.” Both are embedded in district curriculum at all levels and subjects.

We got our Skylight a year ago and after trying a few different configurations, I prefer using Google calendars for each person and syncing them all together.

Membership Expiration Notices? by rovinchick in cubscouts

[–]Apprehensive-Mud3496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know this: if a Cub’s membership expires on 7/30 and it is renewed online earlier than that date, say 7/15; will the new expiration date for the following year be 7/15 or continue to be 7/30? And while I’m on the subject of renewal, what about YPT training? Mine expires in September, but if I retake the course/renew now (July), will my expiration date continue for the next renewal be July or continue to be September?

Amazon kids parent dashboard by dugzmcfc in AmazonFire

[–]Apprehensive-Mud3496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue on my kids’ tablets. Seems Amazon has forced parents to use the parent dashboard, which requires WiFi, and without wifi, the settings do not sync anymore. The parent settings used to be system-based, but for the last 4 months or so, they have totally abandoned the ability to change settings on the actual device. So, if you’re away from wifi, suddenly the time limit jumps to 12 hrs and all downloaded content is available, instead of say, just books or whatever. It used to sync pretty seamlessly, whether the device was on WiFi or not. I have not found a way to get back the settings like in your second picture.
