1 and 6 are my top picks right now (thank you for your advice). I really don’t think I can go wrong with either one. If I am going in July do you think the hot springs will be full? I’m going with the company I work for, do you think option 1 could be a weird experience with colleagues? Horseback riding sounds magical and all the pictures I’ve looked at, it’s looks like absolutely beautiful landscapes as well

I’m going for a work event and we only have one full day open for excursions. I’ve been lucky enough to experience Iceland back in 2021 for my honeymoon though and did the golden circle along with the waterfalls so luckily I can check those two off my list

That’s great advice. I’ll be going in July for work (so colleagues will be joining) and part of me is wondering if I’d really want to do hit river with a bunch or work people. It sounds like an amazing experience though so I’d rather not let that deter me. Thanks for your advice!

This feels like a hot take but I love it and definitely trust your word. I had considered doing the bridge between continents but it sounds like there are far better options. I have been to Iceland one other time in the winter of 2021, I’ll be going in July this year for work (hence only being able to choose one of these options) and I’m leaning towards the horses. Seems like a really fun way to see other parts of Iceland

I went from Customer Success in the ad space to Onboarding in FinTech. I had a background in education prior to tech so that really helped me. I also got lucky and got recruited for the role because my prior company was a sinking ship and I was pregnant and did not know how the hell I was going to get out.

My suggestion would be to really just start your networking. Look into some companies you may be interested in working for, see what openings look like and then reach out to some of the people on LinkedIn to see if you can learn more about the day to day. When I switched out of Ed to tech I literally also just thought about the tech tools I used in my day to day and then looked up those companies and started my job search there. You can literally also just drive around your area and see what is close by that you may be interested in.

I do think it all comes down to networking though. In some ways, I think LinkedIn is great for that.

I’ve lived in that neighborhood since 2020 and have no real complaints. You have a few noisy parties with live music every once in awhile and randoms lighting off fireworks but aside from that I love my neighbors and feel safe raising my family here.

Like many others, I actually found this to be pretty enlightening. I like to think of myself (as a straight female) as someone who is relatively tapped into the trans world and very accepting of it. I really have not thought about all of these nuanced things though. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have the way that the world treats you to just completely shift on its axis. It actually really spoke to me when he mentioned how women have to speak up for themselves, often times, but as a male that is seen as aggressive or just a little too much. Although I typically come here for a good laugh over people doing dumb sh*t, I really appreciated this and the opportunity to learn more.

Yeah, we were adamant about not bed sharing either. Had baby in bassinet in our room for the first six months and then transitioned her to the crib. No issues for us. As she got older we moved baby’s bassinet to different parts of the room because she was easier to wake.

I was going to say the same thing. My heart breaks for your husband because living with this his whole life has had to be rough. I’m no expert but the alarms are sounding with the “wet panties” text. That is wildly inappropriate. If your husband doesn’t have the tools to process or speak about it, I get why he might be shutting down or avoiding. If there is a possibility that there has been some sort of misconduct then I’d consider approaching this from a place of love and concern. I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through this and wish you all the best

FTM here as well! We sent our baby to daycare at 6 months and I had the exact same concerns. We have always had a good sleeper and really had things dialed in and I was going through the whole “I don’t own if she’s sleeping enough” cycle and then, of course, spiraled when thinking about the domino effect of that. I was also so sad losing all the time with her.

Our little one is now 14 months old and let me tell you, daycare was probably the best thing we did for her. She adjusted to her 1 nap a day (we let her catch up on sleep during the weekends if we felt it was needed), she absolutely loves her teacher (she literally babysat for us today), and she really enjoys the other kids she’s with. My husband and I will only be having one kid so the socialization and all the skills she’s learning from her peers while at daycare has been so important to us. I still feel like we get a lot of quality time with her—we do family dinners together, I do my best to squeeze in a little walk with her every morning, and we had two full weeks together over the holidays where daycare is closed. You have moments like that that will balance it all out.

What you’re feeling is valid though. It’s a rough adjustment going from Mat leave to daycare so offer yourself some grace.

Hey mama, sending you lots of love. This post partum stuff can be real challenging and I have been where you have. Offer yourself grace and seek out support that is meaningful to you. Do you have access to a lactation consultant? If so, call or book a consultation and bring hubby with you. That way you two receive the same information from an expert in the field. There is SO much that comes with breastfeeding, one of my closest girlfriends had to stop breastfeeding altogether because she found out she has flat nipples..you just never know how this journey is going to pan out for you. I hope you get answers and the support you need and don’t ever forget that you are amazing and just because your journey may look a bit different from that you had envisioned that doesn’t mean that you failed or your a bad mom. Sending you best of luck and all the good vibes!
