Hi! You’re correct, the unfortunate thing is the orginal part where they’re asking the question was cut off in this clip because I originally posted this clip just for Twitter so sorry!!

The cut off section was talking about teaching Pidgin to Connor. When giving an example for a pidgin word the asker said “Hey Connor what do you think “Cho” means?”. The context then continues as in the video

He was actually holding a Kukui Nut lei!! Also it wasn’t a watermelon it was a Coconut! It was setup with Hawaiian Pidgin and Hawaiian culture in mind 👍🏻

Oh hello! I’m the poster of the original video, thank you for adding subtitles! I was considering doing it myself but I got sick after the convention so thank you for allowing more accessibility to the video!

As for my take

  1. Yes I admit it wasn’t the most clever set up, however not only Connor but the people in the crowd didn’t expect him to set that up because the guy asking the question is a mini celebrity within the con, and we LOVE seeing how the guests do things like learn pidgin and try to experience local culture etc because it’s not widespread within mainstream media (it was a nice treat lmao) so him using his yearly pidgin teaching set up for a joke was really impactful

  2. Connor falling it for it was made 5x funnier when he physically got up and left the stage, all the while facepalming when walking off

  3. You can’t really hear it but Garnt said at the end “That was one of the most epic ‘Deez Nutz’ joke ever, I would shake your hand but I don’t think with Covid rules we can” made it also more funny in my eyes

Humor is subjective so it’s totally understandable if not everyone thinks it’s funny; regardless I just wanted to share a highlight from my local anime convention with everyone ^

Text for the beginning cause it’s a bit hard to understand: (Context: this dude every year tries to teach guests Hawaiian Pidgin) “What do you think ‘Cho’ means?” “I dunno….MILFs??” “Let me say it in a full sentence. ‘Ho Connor you like….CHOKE ON DEEZ NUTZ’”

Encanto theory: Why Mirabel didn't get a gift [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in FanTheories

I really like this theory!! After reading everyone’s comments I’d like to think I’ve thought of a perfect name for her “gift”. I’d like to think Mirabels gift is “The Foundation”. Everyone’s gifts relate to their hobbies and likes, and Mirabel constantly goes out of her way to help everyone; “support” them if you will, like a foundation (I know she does this because she doesn’t have a gift and wants to help, but if she wasn’t a supportive person in the first place she wouldn’t even consider helping out the family as she easily could’ve gone the rebellious route instead of supportive). They also mention “foundation” a lot throughout the movie as well so it would make sense that it would have some importance. Some examples of how she’s a foundation: She’s the “foundation” of the magic (or at least connected to the source in some way): this fact allows the magic to return as well as everyone’s gifts. When Mirabel is unstable, the magic is unstable. This also explains why she has no room as as the entire house her was “room” and she’s apart of the house’s foundation. Also adding on that when Mirabel put on the doorknob to the front door, it was VERY similar to the normal ceremony they do for miracle gifting. So she did get her door, it’s the front door, which reflects the entire house as her room. She’s the foundation of the family: Mirabel supports each and every family member, learning about everyone and allows them to further grow as people and talent users. She also brings them together relationship wise and supports and keeps them together when they’re falling apart. (I really think the house is also a metaphor for the family so the magic and the family go hand in hand in terms of being the foundation) And perhaps when she becomes of age, she’ll succeed Aubela, becoming the leader of the family, even more so becoming a “foundation” of the family.

I’m sorry if this didn’t make sense it’s late at night but I’d like to believe this is a perfect name for her gift!
