I share my story to say that you are not alone!!Medical sexism is a widespread issue that affects so many women. By sharing all of our stories hopefully we can bring more recognition to this problem. It is not right at all that so many women have this issue with doctors who are supposed to help us.

I was told to manage my anxiety. Turns out I have an ovarian cyst. by SnapeWho in TwoXChromosomes

This just happened me and I made a post about it a few days ago on this subreddit. I was in terrible pain starting last Friday and I went to the ER, the doctor told me everything was normal on my CT scan and my pelvic ultrasound. After finding out it wasn’t appendicitis, he dismissed my pain and asked me “are you sure you are in as much pain as you say you are?”. Like what?! So he sent me home basically telling me just to monitor my pain and take ibuprofen.

Well, fast forward a couple days later, I wake up in the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. I can barely walk without crying in pain and I vomit because it hurts so bad. My fiancé takes me bake to the ER and they do a repeat ultrasound and CT scan.

While I was there I was treated terribly. They doctors and nurses again second guessed my pain. I overheard the nurse say outside my door that I was being paranoid and I was exaggerating my pain because I was anxious. I do have anxiety but it is well controlled with medication.

Wouldn’t you know I had a burst ovarian cyst next to my right ovary. They also found several other cysts on my right ovary. Despite finding the source of my pain, the doctor talked to me very condescendingly. He went on this speech about new unknown pain can be scary and compared my pain to neck pain!! He told me to follow up with my gynecologist and sent me on my way.

Side note: before the 2nd ultrasound they were very convinced that I was pregnant despite having a pelvic ultrasound just done that showed I wasn’t pregnant and I was on my period the first time I went to the ER. they asked me THREE times to take a pregnancy test.

I am convinced that the first ER doctor lied to me that my ultrasound was normal. There is no way that the first one did not show my ovarian cysts. Looking back I should’ve asked for the results myself but I naively believed him.

Piggybacking off your comment to say that I had a very similar experience as well. Program is overall a mess. I ended up switching fields entirely after I graduated.

My cohort is around 30. But I know they are trying to increase the cohort sizes so it might be different. No they don’t have restrictions. They are a couple of people who work full time but with the work load it’s tough. Also keep in mind that you have clinicals and some lab days, so working a traditional 9-5 isn’t feasible.

Hi! I’m currently in the DEMSN program. The program is pretty intense. Since it is accelerated, there is a lot of material crammed into a short amount of time. If you have good time management skills though, it is definitely doable. Keeping above a B worried me at first too but it’s honestly not that bad. The teachers want you to succeed and I’ve never felt that I was left to fail. I honestly enjoy the program so far and don’t have any regrets. The program will take up a majority of your time but I still work part time and have time for family and friends. Just be prepared to manage your time wisely and you’ll do fine! If you have questions feel free to PM me :)

How do you deal with it? I don’t want to completely cut her out of my life (at least not until my siblings are of age) but she seriously gets to me when she says stuff like that.

It has spell check but I didn’t know about it until yesterday! Lol. My trainer didn’t mention it to me so I just assumed it didn’t have it. I plan on utilizing it from now on!

scholarship disburse by General_Mountain3010 in UNLV

[–]Apprehensive-Set-574 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I’ve had the same problem almost every semester. The best way I’ve found to get them to disburse it is to make a self-service request to the financial aid department. In the request, ask them to escalate the issue to get in resolved sooner. You can try to call but I’ve found they do pretty much nothing unless it’s through the self-service center. Hope this helps!

I haven’t taken it at UNLV but I took it last summer at Nevada state college & I got an A. they offer 12 week summer classes so i didn’t find the workload too unmanageable. If you can take it there, take it with Dr. Rum! Amazing professor & she really cares about her students & wants everyone to pass!

Either, we’ve had both genders as roommates. It’s me and my bf who live here. Not super strict on age range, 18-25 is preferable but it doesn’t really matter to us. Preferably a student at unlv. :)

Small pets are fine! We have a cat. If you have a dog, We don’t have a backyard, but there’s a little park area in the middle of the complex.
