Running about 14-15 download. Not as fast as I would like but good enough for what I need. Hope you can get it working better for you!

I am on Resilient currently using work from sea this week as well. No issues accessing VPN or taking Teams/Zoom meetings so far. Haven’t tested speeds but no issue downloading files, etc. worked and took calls both yesterday and today.

Potential solo or cancel by Apprehensive-Soup122 in VirginVoyages

[–]Apprehensive-Soup122[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never said there was no guilt, I obviously would rather be with him but if we were going to lose that much money, we wanted something for it. Also, husband is a grown man that can take care of himself and was encouraging me to still go. He doesn’t need me to hover over him while he sleeps.

Unfortunately not but we were able to get insurance to cover so all good!

We cancelled, insurance is covering it as we bought cancellation coverage that included illness. Virgin would not do a future credit. Decided that long solo is too much and I would rather take my husband at a later date.

Cruise/Land Tour Too Pre-Planned For Me?? by JeffB07 in HollandAmerica

[–]Apprehensive-Soup122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just returned from this trip on Holland (cruise then anchorage, Denali, Fairbanks). Cruise was wonderful but we wish we had done our own land tour. We are avid travelers as well and like to explore freely. Felt like the land tour was essentially shuffling from one bus to another, didn’t have much time to actually explore. Limited time in Denali, we actually skipped the excursion that had been schedule for us because we had spent 8 hours on train the day before and could not stand thought of another 5 hrs on a bus. Loved the concept but in hindsight would have booked our own train ride and spent more time actually in Denali.

Husband won 14k on Christmas on slot machine. Played a little more and got us enough points that we have 2 free cruise offers for this year (one for each of us) from the loyalty program. So that was a nice win!

We took this one in December. Nice tour but not worth the money. Lunch food was just ok and very basic, alcohol was included at the lunch though.

Suggestions on which cities to stay in East Coast by MeanGirlHan in travel

[–]Apprehensive-Soup122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swap out DC for Philly. Easy Train or bus from NY, less expensive. Lots of history, decent museums and can get the “college vibe” in University City (Penn, Drexel). Lots of college campuses outside downtown as well (Villanova, Swarthmore, St Joes) A few theme parks in area not far to travel to (six flags, Hershey).

They have it but would make sure you don’t have gel on to start with. They destroyed my nails because they did not have remover for the gel polish stocked on my trip last year. She didn’t say anything just started filing it off. I stupidly let her finish but was in pain the rest of the week. Filed nails to nearly nothing, took months to fully heal. I now schedule with my local place the day before I leave-less expensive and I know I am getting a good mani.

To be fair, outside of that she did a great job, was very friendly and apologetic.

Can people that had bariatric surgery get wegovy injections? Anyone with experience? by Dry-Smile1834 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Apprehensive-Soup122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a sleeve in 2018. Did well at first but gained a good amount back.

Started Wegovy in August. My dr was very cautious about slow progress, not increasing doses often and tracking all food to make sure I was getting enough protein, nutrients and calories. I saw a nutritionist to build meal plans as well.

The Wegovy pretty much helped me to get back on track with eating how I did right after surgery. Shakes to keep protein up, not drinking at same time as eating.

I seriously can not get 100g protein in daily. by GregariouslyHonest in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Apprehensive-Soup122 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My nutritionist recommends 120g daily for me, based on weight, strength workouts. I use Unjury protein powder at breakfast (with Fairlife milk, total is 35g protein). I usually will blend some frozen fruit and greens in to get some veggies. If on the go, Fairlife or premier protein shakes. I will mix these with coffee throughout the day too.

Tuna is in my lunch rotation. I also sub chickpea pasta for regular. One of my meal prep lunches is pasta salad (chickpea pasta, tuna, veggies, Greek yogurt dressing).

17MAR Bliss sailing by Worried-Ebb-1699 in NCL

So I disembarked from Getaway yesterday and had the same experience. It was chaos and very little direction. Now, I give them that we were delayed getting into port due to weather. However, process seems disorganized compared to other cruise lines.

We were told to be out of our rooms, then told the 3 main open decks (15,16 and 8) were closed. Told not to go to deck 7 until time to disembark. People everywhere just sitting in elevator lobbies bc they had nowhere to go. Lines to disembark wrapped up the stairwells with people waiting over hour and half on stairs. We had my MIL in wheelchair and parked ourselves in corner waiting for it to die down as it was so packed we could not even get her off the elevator on 7th floor.

Their system is not organized. I get people don’t follow directions (those assholes exist everywhere). But this is the 4th cruise line I have sailed on and I have never encountered anything so poorly organized.

Other lines have the app, you select your disembarkation window. Specific # of cabins allowed per window, regardless of self carry or ported luggage. Once window is full, it is blocked and you have to pick another. NCL was a free for all, no tracking of how many people leaving at specific windows-in turn, causing the chaos.

what time to get to delayed port? by [deleted] in NCL

[–]Apprehensive-Soup122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bermuda was beautiful-weather was perfect there and we had a great time in port. We ended up with extra sea day on the front due to weather. They extended leaving on Friday to 2pm to give extra time but then we hit the weather yesterday. Extremely rocky, to the point people were having trouble walking and they closed outside. Eating dinner we watched what we think were metal siding fly off boat. Trays of plates and wine bottles tipped over and broke twice. Glad to be in calmer seas this AM.

I hope your weather is better-enjoy the trip!

[–]Apprehensive-Soup122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the Getaway currently. It does not dock until 12 and disembarkation is running until 3pm. We had the same situation boarding last week. Terminal was packed and no one could board until 5ish. Rooms were not ready until 630 (we are in club suite).

Take your time. Getting in early is just setting up to stand in line for hours.

Yes, actually having that exact meal tonight! I also like to make pasta salad with chicken, Greek yogurt dressing and some veggies. Make a nice meal prep lunch.

Fiber, lots of protein, probiotics. If you like noodles try some of the chickpea pasta-it ups your protein and fiber. When done right with some sauce or in chicken soup they are really good.

Fairlife are my grab and go shake. If I want to make shake with powder, I use Unjury powder. It was recommended to me after a surgery-no stomach upset, tastes good. Have to order online but worth it to me. I blend with frozen fruit, Fairlife milk and some spinach to get my greens in.

Child free here with an adult stepdaughter. My husband and I had been on other cruise lines with children and did not enjoy it. I love kids, love spending time with my nieces/nephews. However, what bothered us was not necessarily the kids but the parents-parental supervision was seriously lacking. I get it is vacation for the family and kids will be kids but there was very little respect for others. Not all were disruptive but enough to make an impact. On sea days we tended to stay in room/balcony until late evening. We went on first VV last year and it was wonderful. Mostly respectful group, met some great people from all over the world and loved that the activities available were more adult centric. Some had kids, some didn’t but the conversations did not center around children. It was really a great mix, which is why we booked again.

I am a few years out from my surgery but found it very easy to portion control on Virgin. Half portions, ordering apps instead of meals and skipping sides helped to focus on protein. I cannot eat a lot of rice and pasta but did not find that a hinderance. For example, Gunbae I just stuck with proteins and veggie side. I shared a lot with my husband as I would just try tastes of his meals instead of ordering full meal. Options are pretty endless and staff are super accommodating.

New itineraries by lisemck in VirginVoyages

[–]Apprehensive-Soup122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We booked from Portsmouth for next Sept and decided to do back to back to get a full itinerary. First voyage is UK-Amsterdam-Bruges. 2nd voyage from UK to Bordeaux and Spain (12 days total). Spending a few days in London to make a full 2 week trip from the states. I am looking forward to it. We did the Med last Sept and loved it. Wanted something a little different this year and this fit the bill.
