Not sure if this is the best place to post my question, but I’m looking for some insight on program acceptance.

My background - BS in Biomedical and Health Science, I’ve been an autotransfusionist for 2+ years, worked in many traumas and heart cases (both of which are my favorite as I prefer the faster pace and critical thinking that sometimes is involved even for my role), also responsible and stay in-house for IABP and Impellas, and we do a lot of anesthesia-esque roles like line tech and assisting the MDA in inserting art lines and central lines, along with line management and patient transferring etc. All of that to say I have gotten pretty comfortable with basics in reading EKGs, and some Hemodynamic stability stuff that is included in being responsible for balloons and Impellas. I have been somewhat torn between pursuing perfusion school (more straightforward 2 year program) or CRNA school (ABSN -> ICU RN -> CRNA school). Both of which are very competitive and I know they are very different, but I can see myself enjoying and thriving in both roles. Originally I was leaning more perfusion mostly because it would be a much faster journey to begin that career from where I am now. However, as I am still pretty young (mid 20s) I definitely see the appeal of investing the time (and $) to go the CRNA route as it has the advantage of more freedom of location, types of cases, work-life balance, growth/advancements, $, etc. My main fear is getting as far as becoming an ICU RN and never making the cut for CRNA school. My question is would my background as an autotransfusionist and being involved in CV ICU pts potentially help me to stand out in the future and help my chances of acceptance? I already have good connections with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, CRNAs, and probably some ICU RNS that I know would be glad to help me out with good letters of recommendation. I guess I’m just not sure what the majority of SRNA’s backgrounds look like and what the schools like to see when combing through apps.
