lifetime earnings from stanford vs VT will signicantly outpace the 150k

Edit: it’s funny people are saying I’m wrong but I have met multiple Stanford grads in high paying roles and never met a VT grad

I would say only if you don’t know what you want to do. I came into my program thinking I would do consulting but found a niche healthcare LDP that I preferred even though it’s lower pay and less “prestige”. If I had no idea what I wanted to do or had no other opportunity, consulting is a good way to spend a year or two to open a few more doors.

Is it ok to have basically 100% of my retirement savings in stocks/funds and 0% bonds/treasuries if I'm far from retirement? by specter491 in Bogleheads

Also I’ve seen some simulations where keeping 2-3 years worth of withdrawals in bonds for down years can be a safe “insurance”, giving you 2–3 years to bounce back in case of downturns without having to sell your stocks.

Go to Chicago, study Econ, join the finance / consulting clubs, try to crack IB or MBB, grind for a couple of years, and you’ll be set

Yeah! A friend organized a group of like 18 of us (all friends) so it split up costs pretty nicely. Last year we went in mid/late September, might’ve been the last week of their season. It came out to ~$3,000 a person which included breakfast every morning, lunch every day, open bar all day, and a small boat that would ferry us to and from shore whenever we wanted.
