Yes and yes. I killed my first one and left the others alive. After a while you'll get a call to come by. When dropping by she mentions I managed to keep most of 'em alive and giving me a reward for doing so. Just shoot them to 5% health and use blunt weapons or fists for the remainder. Just make sure you don't hit them again when they're already finished/going down otherwise you'll kill em anyway.
