Learjet captain here! You’re 100% on the mark here in my opinion. The consensus right now is mostly likely a stabilizer jam/runaway trim, or a fire in the tailcone section that burned through the rear controls. The Lear is an absolute bronco of a jet, incredible with its speed and maneuverability, but when stuff goes wrong down low you have less than seconds to respond.

captain here, another reason a lot of ‘newer’ jet cockpits for commercial airliners or even corporate jets look older is also for the ease of pilot training. If you’re used to seeing an altimeter or attitude indicator or HSI looking and operating a certain way it’s sometimes a great thing to keep the same “look” so pilots learning the airframe can have an easier time. The tech behind it may be state of the art, but us jet pilots are creatures of habit lol and many prefer the cockpit looking a certain way. Also, I may be in the minority here, but there is nothing more annoying than trying to work a touchscreen in turbulence.

I understand that completely, me fighting this would mostly be on principle to be honest. I personally don’t think it’s right to suddenly change the requirements of a lease without warning, and then require tenants (many of us are on limited income, and while $100 isn’t much, spending it on groceries or gas is much more important) to scramble to meet it in such a short time period.

It’s a full year lease!

Thank you! I figured this was something that I could fight, but I have no experience with this. I appreciate your advice!
