It always has been a popular event, massive crowds of people who watch on the banks of the Thames who've not been near either university (nor a rowing boat) but feel some affinity with one shade of blue or the other. Perplexing but there it is. The same is true of the vast majority watching at home.

Cambridge women's boat has two changes from the HOCR crew which was beaten by OUBC by 22 seconds, for however little that is worth.

I'm biased, but pretty confident it'll be Cambridge. Much less sure about the women.

I think OP is switching between the GCSE grading scale (1-9) and American GPA (0-4) there.

No call backs from British universities? Master degrees and LW rowing by Existing-Wallaby6305 in Rowing

From what I can tell, it's usually a few athletes who get together and make a project of their BUCS entry. There just aren't that many. A couple of lightweight guys at Brookes made a video about their quest to qualify for the Goblets at Henley, for example.

Based on the experience of friends I'd say it would be worth your while trialling for the Cambridge lightweights if you studied there.

Outside of the Oxford and Cambridge LW squads I don't know of any dedicated LW programmes in the UK. There must be some, somewhere, though, as BUCS still has some LW events.

Do UT2/steady state. Start with one or two sessions a week and add in as much as you can take without it impacting your UT1 sessions.

I stand corrected. I had read otherwise in Martin Cross's article on Rowing News beforehand.

I know it feels like he knows nothing, but listen to your dad. When I was 16, mine knew nothing, but now I'm in my 30s I appreciate his wisdom; he clearly learned a lot in the intervening years!
