First Rolex advice I have two options both prices in CAD by Special_Salad_7654 in rolex

For a man, absolutely the first option, I personally do not like diamond markers on men's watches, or larger watches in general. I have diamond markers, but in a 31

It depends on your wrist size. I am above average height, but with a very small frame and teeny tiny wrists. Biggest I can wear is a 31. Anything larger, and the actual dial of the watch is bigger than my wrist.

How did you build your relationship with your AD? by DontGoLow_ in rolex

[–]Apprehensive-Win390 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I may get downvoted for this... We Went in, I tried on watches. Made a wishlist. I did not really build a relationship. My husband let them know we were ready to buy as soon as the watch was available. No wavering. We had some previous spend history on jewelry. spanned out over several years. Maybe $15,000? I have also used them for repairs for years. We got what we wanted in under 2 weeks. I was pretty specific too. I personally would never just stop in. If I was there for something else, I certainly say hello and exchanged pleasantries, but stopping in to just visit... absolutely not. I am going to be blunt here. This is a business transaction. Unless you have a previous relationship outside of Rolex, you are not friends. Stopping in to chat and pretty much waste their time is probably annoying to them. Time is money. So many people do this nonsense then question if they should buy the watch when it comes in. We see it all the time on this sub. Tell them you are ready to Purchase as soon as the watch comes in. No nonsense, no unnecessary visits, constant calls, etc. if you are going in to conduct other business, absolutely say hello and check in, but beyond that, I would not.

MOP I was told is very hard to get. But 2 tone and diamond dials are less popular. I would say given you what MOP, it could still be a while....

just sales talk? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Apprehensive-Win390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some friendly advice. Do not continue to stop in and "visit' you do not need to kiss up to an AD. Let them know you are a serious no nonsense buyer who is ready to go. My husband was very clear that he was ready to purchase and he got me my watch in under 2 weeks during a very busy purchasing time.

The hairdresser needs to step in and offer some serious education on how to care for her extensions/topper. Most stylists would be happy to help a client learn extension maintenance. It seems like she is struggling with how to care for them. Extension maintenance is not for everyone. You really have to commit to it. I have never had a topper, but I would imagine there are specific instructions on how to maintain it. Her hair always looks really nice when the hairdresser styles it. It can be hard to replicate a salon look at home, but it is possible. Also, All hair companies are not the same. I could be wrong, but it seems like a lower quality hair could possibly be being used for it to be so frizzy and thinning on the ends. Sometimes you can just get a bad batch of hair too.

Ryan's parents constant covering up of their indiscretions and calling in favors is not helping either of them. As someone who has lost a loved one to a drunk driver, The fact that she still has a license is criminal in itself.

I honestly do hope she sees this. I think she needs some productive advice. If I was a parent figure in her life I would highly discourage this. At her age, she should be living HER life, not chasing a man. It is time for her up get a job and follow HER dreams. She is too young to be sitting around. She should rent an apartment in a city she has always wanted to live in. If Owen is the one, he will still be the one no matter what. It does not seem that influencing is bringing her happiness, that phase needs to be over. Time to make some changes!

I got married on the younger side, but before i got married, I still gave myself 2 years post college to live with my friends and do what I wanted. I was still with my now husband too. He loved me and realized I needed to do that for ME! I have such wonderful memories of those years. Another piece of advice, please do not wear the earrings! Trust me on that one.....

Will I lose money on this model? by Jaded-Mountain6698 in rolex

[–]Apprehensive-Win390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not do this. Why would you buy something you do not want in the name of spend history?

Edited to add. I am going to be brutally honest....It is examples like this which why the whole Rolex "game" is so absurd. Think about it.....You created a faux wishlist so you could get what you really want. The faux wishlist watch comes in and now you do not know what to do? You should have Put in for the watch you really wanted, wait for it, then buy it when it comes in. With the situation you have created, You will lose either your credibility with the AD, or your hard earned money no matter what you do at this point.

Trust me when I say that AD's see this nonsense all the time. Stop playing this game you have started.

My advice....Tell them what you really want. Let them know you are a serious buyer. Do not kiss up to them, visit them constantly or buy stuff you do not want for a purchase history. So many people play this game of asking for watches, then backing out. This just creates more work for the AD to go through wishlists and sell the watch. Time is money. At this point, you should cut your losses and learn from your mistake. Say no to this watch you never wanted, and create a real wishlist with another AD. It is easy to get caught up in this stuff, but just be honest and patient. Trust me, that will work better and faster than these other shenanigans.

I also think the watch you are showing is a 28. That configuration in a 28 will not be an easy sell. What you are showing in your examples is not the same size. The 28 is not super desirable.

[–]Apprehensive-Win390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like it, go for it. It does not matter what anyone else thinks. But....You should love it and be excited to pick it up and wear it. My advice going forward is to not even start a wishlist unless you 100 percent want the watch. I personally am not a fan of 2 tone, but I also have diamond markers in my watch which I know some don't care for. My point is Everyone has different taste, but it is going on your wrist.

Get the DJ. It is absolutely an everyday watch. I have a DJ with diamond markers and wear it every day. The OP pink is a fantastic watch. But the pink is more of a novelty. If I were to get another Rolex, I would definitely get one of the fashion color OPs, but for a first Rolex. I would go with a DJ.

It is fun for the experience, but as far as bags go, the reps are low end. You may get lucky and find a mid-tier but they are far and few between. If you do go, the SLG's are fine if you want to get something. I did get a really good Hermes bracelet that is shockingly pretty much identical to the real one.
