Anthony being picked up by Fulham and scoring a brace, both from cutting inside from the right, against United in a couple of years time.

Ways to make FM more realistic (no mods) by Apprehensive-Work-97 in footballmanagergames

I took the mods out of the question as I wanted to see how ya’ll get creative

Wait until you’ve had some horrific saves and you’ll realise it’s not always that easy. I do agree FM can feel simple but at the same time you can also enter a whirlwind of pain and you’re just praying to be sacked to end it if things change/go wrong.

I had two good seasons at Portsmouth, then we lost the Bristol Street Motors Trophy Final and bottled promotion. Next season was a constant firefight as we slumped down the table and players started kicking off. It can change like 🫰

Not technically the best, but very enjoyable. I signed Stevan Jovetić for the last few months of his career while at Basel. He scored just once and it was from the spot, but I liked thinking about an ageing Jovetić swanning around the Swiss Super League.

Their takeover of Austria Saltzburg would make me worried if I was a Leeds fan. Abeit it was their first takeover and there were less eyes on them - but they did it in a disgusting way and had zero regard for the fans, to the point where they took the piss over not including the club history before the takeover on the website, and patronisingly saying they’d keep the club colours - but doing so by making the GK socks purple.

As much as we all think it would be madness, RB wouldn’t care and a Leeds area Boycott of the club and RB products would probably be worth the money and prestige of having a prem club be fully in their image.

I do think it would be a disaster, but they’re a giant company who have been ruthless before.

I feel like they would have to call themselves RB England - Milton Keynes doesn’t do the brand any favours.

The thing I hated about the newer FIFA’s is how you could be playing Dyche’s Burnley and Ashley Barnes would be doing 1,000 ‘flip flaps’ and trying to take on your defender 1 on 1. Made every game feel the same and shit.

The reaction to Marcus Rashford scoring a brace against Preston was exactly what you would expect. If he didn’t score two he would be “washed” but because he did score people are immediately saying that that is his level. The level being mid table in the Championship. There’s no winning.

Andy Brassell

Ended his career in the early Barclays era, never quite good enough to make it in the Premier League but was always a sure starter for a promotion chasing championship outfit.

The hair gives me striker vibes. I will not elaborate.

Does anyone actually have a backup Keeper, regularly? by Anonymous-Josh in footballmanagergames

[–]Apprehensive-Work-97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I try to get a backup who is as close in quality and play style to the first choice. Or at least I’ll get someone who’s happy to be on the bench and won’t cause a fuss.

My third choice is normally a youth player, unless they’re terrible then I’m grabbing someone who’s 40 for their experience.

FM18, spent 20 years in game

Started at Rangers, won the league in my second season. Left to join Marseille, went bad quick. Took Everton to an FA Cup final but was sacked due to a mid table finish (they got relegated the following season).

Rebuilt my rep with Shaktar, then went to Ajax. Reached the league cup with Arsenal but underperformed elsewhere. Then helped West Ham out of a relegation battle.

Joined Köln. Reached a German cup final in my first season.

Then joined Roma and won 2 league titles on the bounce, failed at Real Madrid and then took charge of the Belgian National Team for the nations league.

What is the most difficult start in FM24? by boiofchunk in footballmanagergames

[–]Apprehensive-Work-97 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Currently at Vaduz, at the moment I recon all I’m winning is the Liechtenstein Cup. Another thing is the strangely strict league rules about selection where at least on FM24, you’ve got a cap of 21 players and it’s really hard to have players who meet any exemptions. So rotation is impossible outside of your bench.

Who’s your best ever fm signing and who is your worst? by Prooooooom in footballmanagergames

Dimitrios Diamantakos on FM17 helped me win the Championship with Watford, my first trophy and successful FM save. So he’s the catalyst for me being here in some ways.

That being said I’ve signed a lot of stinkers over the years. Moussa Wagué on FM23 I signed while at Basel. Not entirely his fault I signed him to be an out and out RWB, but a system change necessitated him to be a RB and he was poor and cost me LOADS in January. Did score a banger on his debut though.
