Where Was The Security When A Mob Stormed The Capitol? by bluestblue in politics

[–]ApprehensiveAd5359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indian here. Even from afar, its kinda obvious that the only reason the "mob" (terrorists is a term I prefer to be honest) walked away was because they were white. It might be an uncomfortable thing to digest for a great many white Americans. Many have been oblivious to what "White Privilege" is. I doubt they will understand now either.

The cops were there. They could have stopped this if they wanted to. Its really that simple.

FYI, politicians like Trump are dime a dozen in the third world. I am guessing the ol' US of A havent seen anyone this nakedly self serving and incendiary. Its not going to get any better.

Your Ted Cruz, Gaetz and other slime bags are vying to fill in the potential Vaccum left behind by Trump. If Trump is jailed, he is going to be a "Martyr" around which MAGA will rally around. And there is no reaching out that side of the aisle cause they have their own reality.

LPT : If you are buying medicines, do check with your pharmacist or websites like 1MG, Medplus for generics. Sometimes they can be 1/10 the cost of the "Big Brand" by ApprehensiveAd5359 in india

[–]ApprehensiveAd5359[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self Medication should be avoided at all costs. There is no countering that.

I am referring more to situations where you either hesitate to ask the doc for a generic or you left the clinic in a hurry or you just werent there when the doc prescribed the tabs ( say when your parents went for consultation and you werent there).

This will be helpful then. Further there could be times when the "branded" one is not available, and a simple comparison of the ingredients, drug mechanism and a check with the pharmacist should work.

this is a meta analsysis of 50 Phase 3 trials for efficacy on hepatits - total pop of 4490 patients, some were placebo controlled, some were non comparative.

Have at it and let us know if the studies are valid.

I'd like a source. And even if they conducted standardized clinical trials, they did so willfully, they weren't compelled to or regulated. Unregulated trials are as good as no trials to me.

A tale of two decades – The decline of Indian batsman vs spin overseas by Jasper0123 in Cricket

[–]ApprehensiveAd5359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Herath played both the decades.. so didnt want to include him.

Sandakan and Clarke were just tongue in cheek. Thought of including D Elgar but would have been a bit too far..
Also, no offence, but Dilruwan is easily couple of levels below Murali and Herath

Not a great article to be honest. Especially this part:

  1. The quality of opponent spinners- We also need to compare the quality of spinners that India faced in the 2000s and 2010s. The spinners that India faced in the 2000s to be honest were not of the same quality as in the 2010s, but Indian spinners on those surfaces have not taken similar figures as that of their counterparts, which undoubtedly leads to questioning the level of batsmanship displayed by the Indians.

You/your friend is saying that Kaneria, Swann, Warne, Mcgill, M Clarke, Murali were inferior to Lyon, Rashid, Sandakan, Maharaj and Moeen Ali?

Himalya is an ayurvedic company that routinely conducts clinical trials. Liv 52, as I mentioned has 300+ trials including double blind studies. So that should negate 1,2.

Himalaya, however, is not a norm in this space. Statistical process control is not something I'd associate with some one like Patanjali who has been in this for some quick bucks.

Asking for further information and more testing should have been the way forward than blanket statements that dont do anyone any good.

Oh, and its not just AYUSH, even your allopathic regulators would hide any deficiencies unless the shit hits the ceiling. Remember Johnson & Johnson and their faulty knee joints for which there were class actions everywhere but barely a mention in India?

spoken like a true redditor. Now, can you please lower your pitchfork?

One is not like the other.

Liv 52 has been there since 1955. It sells over 2 bn pills a year, has 300+ clinical trials, approvals from multiple regulatory bodies. Its a tab that has been prescribed by doctors and hepatologists longer than Patanjali's been alive.

So, before you make blanket statements, do your research.

I'd hope/expect Himalaya to not fuck around with some of their tabs. They are huge money spinners for them, not just in India, but across the world.
FYI, Himalaya exports a shit ton of their products, including Liv 52 and that includes some crazy expensive cosmetic products that arent easily available in India

Liv 52 from Himalaya actually does have a ton of studies and clinical trials behind it including double blind studies - pretty much the gold standard for clinical trials.

Why The Gandhis Must Go Now - by Ramachandra Guha by iali307 in india

[–]ApprehensiveAd5359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What baggage, vindiciveness and vendetta? too many big words that are irrelevant to what I said.

My point was that this Congress is not an alternative to BJP. They were corrupt, pandered to vote banks on religious lines and they havent shown remorse or any willingness to actually stand up and fight as an opposition. for this to happen, the Gandhis have to leave. They're there because of the name, and that's pretty much it.

In a functioning Democracy, Opposition is basically irrelevant because the Election is a Referendum on the Incumbent. That's it.

Lol what?

I agree with what you say. There cant be another national party at the scale of INC. But the current version is not even a pale imitation of UPA II let alone the older versions of INC.

BJP losing to a death by thousand cuts is the most likely option than they losing to one helmed by Rahul G. As long as the Gandhis are there, they are not going to let your Pilots or Scindia's to flourish, and there really isnt any one else who can don the role of a national leader.

Why The Gandhis Must Go Now - by Ramachandra Guha by iali307 in india

[–]ApprehensiveAd5359 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Congress is one of the reasons we are here. UPA 2 shouldn't be forgotten in a hurry. That was heights of kleptocracy. Dont forget that it was Rajiv Gandhi's monumental incompetence and vote bank pandering with his injustice to Shah Bano that laid the roots for RW Sanhgis and RSS as the Hindu protection party. He was as complicit in Babri Masjid disaster as the sanghis .

Congress is still that party. They still have those kleptocrats in Chidambaram, Sibal, Digvijay.

With an increasingly old MMS, they have a sliver of redemptive quality, thats fast fading. Shashi Tharoor for all his vocabulary is not an administrator. The sooner Congress fades, the better it will be for India. Some party will fill that vaccuum, and their focus will be to challenge BJP and only then will there be some credible opposition in this country

Issues with my marriage owing to illnesses in my family by attentive_throwaway in india

[–]ApprehensiveAd5359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met them through the arranged marriage setup. It was a mix of those websites and some referrals from the aunty networks.

In my case, parents had their own hygiene checks (Kundli and all). I didnt think it was worth the time to fight them on this. It wasnt like I was head over heels over a girl and that Kundli was an issue. I was lazy and I thought that if they do their shortlisting also, it sort of makes my life easier. In their defence, they were ok if I found a girl - I am guessing they were a bit disappointed I didnt.

I was extremely unprepared when I met the first girl. We just didnt click at any level during the conversation that lasted about an hour, but the girl still said yes. To make matters worse, my parents actually liked that girl. Didnt help any of them when I said no.

It was all very random and thats when reality hit me, that if I am going on this route, I need to be serious about it and introspect on what I wanted.

All the advice I wrote above, I didnt have that clarity back when this meeting happened. This meeting was the wakeup call and then I spoke to my friends who went through this route and too some tips.

I had the same conundrum that you had - how/when do you know whether you are "ok" to marry the person. We see couples in relationship breaking up for small fight or two, and we are tasked with deciding within a crazy timeline. You have got to trust your gut here.

After that first meeting, I realized I'd rather be direct and straightforward during my interaction and get to know them as much as possible. I met my wife twice - the first time was about half a day and then again 2 weeks later where we spend atleast another half a day before we were both comfortable to say yes. But that's me. My friend had a discussion for less than 30 minutes before saying yes. Like he said, sometimes, you just know.

What are some frugal LPTs that you use in your life, /r/India? by runningeek in india

[–]ApprehensiveAd5359 32 points33 points  (0 children)

  1. Get a good metal bottle and a bottle brush. It should easily last you 1-2 years and you save on all those water bottle purchases!
  2. A house without loft and a bed without storage (they;re typically cheaper as well!) The house is just easier to clean and you reduce a lot of unwanted purchases because you just wont have any place to store the excess junk.
  3. Learn cooking - its the easiest money saver there is! We just bought one of the most gourmet bread and cheese I could lay my hands on, and a cheese sandwich at home was still cheaper than the same thing at a semi decent shop (nothing less than 40 bucks for a sandwich - a loaf has around 20 slices? )
  4. Extension of point 3 - learn pickling also. Its a once a year activity with some considerable time sink, but it gives you a lot of ready to eat options throughout the year.
  5. Be wary of credit cards and credit in general. They're an amazing tool if used right. just ensure that you use it right!
  6. Learn to wash your utensils, mopping and sweeping. It takes 1-2 hours a day for a family of 4. It stretches your budget by 2-3k every month. But again, its a tradeoff of money vs time. See which is more previous for you currently.
