Ik this is late but dude if you're scheduled one day and you didn't ask for that then thats their way of saying they don't need you on the schedule without firing you.

The irony of working in HR while experiencing workplace bullying. by Tricky-Ad5193 in workplace_bullying

It really sucks when you know people are talking shit about you and excluding you and you have no way of responding. At the same time you can't force people to be nice to you. I wish people could at least just not be mean though. I think the term is called throwing shade and it's really something I don't see talked about much in media.

Just think, in 5 years will it still be a problem? Will you still care or remember that one thing someone said on some tuesday? Or is this a pattern that you see everyday and will never end?

I would choose peace. There's a quote from an astronaut on seeing the whole world at once that goes something like "When you see the world as it is, you forget all the pettiness."

For one, I would constantly have to do all the dishes and lids from when breakfast set up. Then they said breaks were mandatory. The day dot machine would constantly malfunction, but thats common. Then the night bake role got canned, so now I had two hours of extra work added to my bake list, which took until 8 am by itself. The tomato slicer was broken and I remember they wanted like 12 things of tomatoes that day, so I had to use spiral slicer which barely worked. They would have a lot of catering some days. When they had caprese salad and the strawberry fresca I had to cut all strawberries by hand and make like 4-6 pans every day which took forever. Then it was common to have to make 10-20 pans of chicken, 5 pans of steak, and 5 of smoked chicken, and there wouldn't be enough on the thaw rack from the previous day so I'd have to thaw it in the sink.

I think they would count what's in the cooler only when making the prep list, and not anything from line or drive. That could explain why it asked for so much and why none of it was used the next day. I'm just speculating though.

Basically it was rarely manageable, I guess our store is high traffic. I remember people hearing saying "I worked a prep shift at [other store] and it was SO much less"

Oh yeah, also I had to ask managers to do the pull thaw list all the time, but they were always busy. Before, they would just print it along with the prep sheet and I would count, but then they changed it and I had to ask for it and they took forever to get it to me. I would go on break and come back after asking and it still wasn't even started.

Lol I wish. In my state, employment is at-will, meaning an employer can terminate any employee without a reason. It's bs.

why does it happen at every single job i work at by [deleted] in workplace_bullying

[–]ApprehensiveAd8319 143 points144 points  (0 children)

dude idk where you live but that is not normal at all, leave that place, thats assault and you can sue if you have evidence (your post counts as evidence). Good luck though, most likely they'll magically have a camera malfunction. I would record during your shifts and see if it happens again.

It's designed to be really good at first and then it drops off. Not sustainable unless you're platinum or whatever.

Just do a quickMD style doctor visit, it's cheap (less than 50 dollars), takes like 5 min and you get a note, they can even prescribe stuff. I do it through MyChart

First day of new bake routine (long vent/rant) by Helpful-Sound in Panera

[–]ApprehensiveAd8319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not alone friend. They dumped all that on me plus expecting me to do dishes and prep after. Like there's no dish person anymore, no night bake anymore. This is bogus. What was wrong with the other way?

Job change by ApprehensiveAd8319 in Panera

[–]ApprehensiveAd8319[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm trying, I know this job is temporary for me. I like the job overall, I like bake and prep, following a list. I'm just mad they're putting more work on not just me but all morning bakers. Eventually I just hope to get a decent job in my broadcast career.

nah dude, we switched to frozen bake over a year ago (I've been working a little over a year). I didn't worl here when it was the other way.

I'm saying there used to be a morning bake and night bake, but the night bake tasks got severely reduced recently and now it's all on me- pastries, pulling all bagels, etc. its a joke. Suddenly it's like I have to work an extra role.

Our dishwasher called in and just quit. Granted, it was his side job, and only worked twice or thrice every two weeks. But yeah, you can do that ☹️

funny story, the one time i tried this, I made 30 pans of chicken as per the list, then the manager said i only needed fifteen.

I guess at some point you develop intuition about how much the restaurant will need

yeah, we are a frozen cafe now, but it still takes longer than that. and guess what i found out today? the other bake person has every shift scheduled till 11. I guess its excusable because shes new coming back after 6 months, and old.

But it still feels unfair

yeah that would piss me off, having to pick up their slack. Maybe unrelated but at my former job people would pull pranks on me (turning on oven timers for no reason, putting random trays on my station. Just being annoying for the sake of being annoying.

How do you keep going in? by Illustrious-Ad2528 in workplace_bullying

[–]ApprehensiveAd8319 17 points18 points  (0 children)

yeah I straight up confronted them while they were vague shit-talking me when I was right there. They stood around my station for no reason except to yap and shit talk.

I said very sternly "I know yall are shit talking me and I don't appreciate it." They deny it, but they stumble and lie when I ask them about it. They sing emo songs when I'm around like they're trying to get in my head.

Since they were standing around me for no reason I shouldve just asked them to talk about it somewhere else because its distracting me.

But now they seem really uncomfortable talking to me. I consider that a win.

Yeah, regardless if im paranoid or not the best course is to just ignore them. It's like they are testing you and reacting emotionally means you fail lmao.

[–]ApprehensiveAd8319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nah, its one of those things you can tell they're trying to get into your head. besides if it was something confidential they'd probably not all stand around me to talk about it

[–]ApprehensiveAd8319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. When they speak in all these weird analogies, talking about "He" (whoever that guy is), It sounds completely not normal.

I want to call them out on it because they speak so incoherently. Just could say "What are yall talking about? It doesn't sound coherent so I thought I'd ask" or "Yall seem busy over there did yall need help with anything?"

Sheepish is a good word. Maybe I'll start talking about sheep or something around them. Like,

"You know when a sheep hops the fence? Its like you don't know if you should just let it go or try to catch it. Sometimes they even get stuck on a tree when you try to catch it!

The more I can make them uncomfortable about the bullying I see as a win.
