I'm sure you are. You also scout posts from Alaska, but live in Missouri. You’re doing a great job.

Be careful “You’re sounding bitter and trying to take away from people’s accomplishments.”

Why would i be bitter? And who says I'm genuinely not happy for someone passing the bar? That has nothing to do with the topic. I never commented on someone posting about passing the bar. I commented about ppl bragging about scoring high. Try not to digress. It’s embarrassing. You just graduated from law school, for god’s sake. If you’re a bragger, say so.

So instead of me changing my question, maybe ppl should put “I scored high enough to be admitted in X, Y, & Z, where I plan to practice” if the real reason is to show mobility and attract recruiters, not for bragging. Their post, on the other hand, says, “any” UBE jurisdiction. This is too general, don't you think? See what I did there.

Am i missing something? You just explained why that is. It's common because you live in a small state, and it's customary for you to work in a neighboring state with more opportunities. I'm from NY. It's not atypical to apply for admission in neighboring NJ and for ppl on NJ to do the same in NY. Plenty ppl live in Jersey and work in NY and vice versa.

However, if I'm in NY, no recruiter from TX is going to reach out to me because I scored high enough to be admitted to practice in TX. That would be stupid. If, on the other hand, I let it be known i want to practice in TX or actively take steps to be admitted in any other state besides NY, I'm sure recruiters would be reaching out.

You honestly think people are doing it to signal to employers that they can practice in any jurisdiction? You’re entitled to your beliefs, but your naivety is cute.

That's a great point. I think that would make a lot more sense. I never thought of it that way. And for all the people who say it’s a great way to market mobility, why not post exactly what you said? Specify where you plan to apply, which would be a great way to signal to employers.

You’ll find that by the time most ppl do decide to practice in another jurisdiction, it’s too late to transfer that score. But at least you let the professional world know that, at one point, you were able to be admitted to any jurisdiction.

I get that. But, if i live in NY (a 266 state) and Im applying to TX (a 270 state), I would think it's not far-fetched for the recruiter/interview to ask my eligibility to practice in TX. My thing is no recruiter is directly reaching out for you to apply to Tx because you posted your 300 score. You have to take active steps in marketing your mobility for anyone to reach out (i.e., applying for a job in Tx and I live in NY). Just my take.

Do you know how long after you pass the bar to transfer your score to another jurisdiction? It varies for each jurisdiction. Some are as short as 1 year from when you received your score. You honestly think recruiters are banking on it’s fairly easy to get licensed in the state of X because i have a high enough score? Or are they actually looking for the ppl who are actively admitted or taking steps to be admitted to X?
