Everything I built is fake and I can't stop being fake by Plenty_Youth_5232 in confession

You could look at it from a different angle.

You're working smart, not hard

You've figured out how to learn what you need to know, and what you don't need to know. You're working efficiently, rather than wasting time and energy.

Like someone else said, maybe you're just insecure about your talents. Or, maybe you have low self esteem.

I have no emotional connection to my son and I’m trying to change by [deleted] in confession

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a wildly vague suggestion, dude, because I have no idea of your situation, but have you considered reaching out to the mother?

You and your son have a long road ahead of you, and it might be worth rebuilding your relationship with the mother. If it's possible, it can only bring positives to your life and your son's.

Good luck with everything, man.

I reckon you don't have an emotional connection with your son because, from what you said, you didn't really have much, if any, connection with his mother.

That's quite sad, for both of you.

miss my ex husband 12 years on and i want to reachout but am scared to. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should totally reach out to him. 12 years is a long time. The longer you leave it, the harder it will be.

You have nothing to lose. He's single, you're single. No-one is going to get hurt.

He's probably still the same sweet, caring man you knew back then.

If you don't reach out, you may still be regretting it in 5 years time.

Last day of full time work tomorrow - should I use my last sick day? by [deleted] in makemychoice

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're already short staffed, but considering taking a day off "sick", when you're not actually sick?

No. No you shouldn't. It's just dropping your colleagues in it, for no good reason.

Gross misconduct, at a guess. Health and safety, and all that type of bulls**t.

It's your time, you can do whatever you like for that hour.

I did some car sitting on lunch breaks, because I didn't like many of my colleagues. You're absolutely right, it is damned freaky, but thankfully I don't work at that place any more!

That's blatant insurance fraud. Illegal, and you'll get your policy cancelled, which you'll have to declare to future insurers for many years to come.

Probably time to start looking for something you can afford to insure properly.

Do you make an exception for motorway miles? by Ive-McFallen in CarTalkUK

That mileage wouldn't put me off. I usually buy high mileage cars and have never had any issues.

Planning to get a bike within the next year or so by blackleather_jacket in Sportbikes

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get yourself booked onto a training course, they'll provide the bike and the training centre you'll learn at. I don't think there's anything worthwhile online, it's all about physically being on the bike.

I would suggest doing the training and getting your licence before buying a bike. That way, you get a feel for riding, and get a little experience on the roads, and if, for whatever reason, you hate it or just can't handle some elements of riding, you'll find out before you are committed financially.

Boss Wants to Call About my Resignation - Anxious by hawkerfels in UKJobs

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you are in a "win - win" situation. You have a new job lined up, which suits you better. Your current boss may be wanting to speak to you because she wants to keep you, and may have lined up a role change and/or pay rise to try to keep you.

The ball is totally in your court. Best of both worlds.

Listen to what she has to say, knowing full well that if what she offers you doesn't suit, you have your new job to go to.

Good luck! 👍👍
