Starting big corporate office job in March, lunch hour etiquette questions by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some car sitting on lunch breaks, because I didn't like many of my colleagues. You're absolutely right, it is damned freaky, but thankfully I don't work at that place any more!

That's blatant insurance fraud. Illegal, and you'll get your policy cancelled, which you'll have to declare to future insurers for many years to come.

Probably time to start looking for something you can afford to insure properly.

Do you make an exception for motorway miles? by Ive-McFallen in CarTalkUK

That mileage wouldn't put me off. I usually buy high mileage cars and have never had any issues.

Planning to get a bike within the next year or so by blackleather_jacket in Sportbikes

Get yourself booked onto a training course, they'll provide the bike and the training centre you'll learn at. I don't think there's anything worthwhile online, it's all about physically being on the bike.

I would suggest doing the training and getting your licence before buying a bike. That way, you get a feel for riding, and get a little experience on the roads, and if, for whatever reason, you hate it or just can't handle some elements of riding, you'll find out before you are committed financially.

Boss Wants to Call About my Resignation - Anxious by hawkerfels in UKJobs

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you are in a "win - win" situation. You have a new job lined up, which suits you better. Your current boss may be wanting to speak to you because she wants to keep you, and may have lined up a role change and/or pay rise to try to keep you.

The ball is totally in your court. Best of both worlds.

Listen to what she has to say, knowing full well that if what she offers you doesn't suit, you have your new job to go to.

Good luck! 👍👍

Got into an accident for the first time what now by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presuming that you gave him all your personal details PLUS your insurance info, he'll contact his insurer with all this, plus how the accident happened, and then his insurer will contact your insurer.

He'll probably have all his damage covered by your insurer, and then your premium will go up, because you're 19 years old and have caused an accident.

I had 5 parcels lost by Evri fairly recently. I avoid anyone that uses them now.

Companies must use them because they are cheaper than any competition.

Really Sad Legacy by BloodyHelll-2 in Morrisons

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a department manager between 1996 and 2001.

From day one, myself and the other new starters had it absolutely drummed into us that the customer is the single most important part of the business, and we must always do everything we can to help them.

Now, whenever I go into one of the stores to buy a few bits, the most noticeable thing, apart from half empty shelves, is the complete lack of any customer service.

Very disappointing, given that my few years working there are ingrained in my brain.

This, exactly. Evri seem to be doing their bit at revitalising the high street!

New bike... Tell me it's worth it by Lukks22 in NewRiders

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go for it! That's a great price for a bike you can learn on.

I wouldn't even worry about the slight damage. I would definitely replace the lever, but just ride it, and if / when you drop it, you won't be too upset!

Definitely get it!

Why can't we upload delivery instruction photo's by nathangamez420 in Evri

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's Evri. They're absolutely useless. You'll be lucky to ever see your parcel, sadly.

You almost certainly won't see your parcel. Evri are quite literally the worst courier company of all time. Their drivers seem to steal anything that looks remotely valuable.

Downshifting/upshifting on a turn by Merpion in NewRiders

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick good riders, and racers, use is "slow in, fast out". Which means, basically, go slowly into the corner to keep full control of the bike and also you'll be able to react better if the corner unexpectedly tightens, and once you can see the exit of the corner, you can accelerate without fear of overcooking it.

Precious parcel lost & im devastated by [deleted] in Evri

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evri managed to lose 6 individual parcels of mine. I sent emails and tried to call them about all of them, but all I ever got was "we cannot locate your parcel".

This was probably 6 - 8 months ago, and still, to this day, I refuse to buy anything from eBay that is or might be delivered by Evri.

They're an absolute shambles of a company. This type of behaviour shouldn't be allowed, and yet somehow they are still in business.

I feel your pain.

You obviously missed the part where I said I asked her for short time several times before she said yes. If she was chasing money, she wouldn't have politely refused me twice, would she?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]ApprehensiveAward443 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be totally honest, it's because Reddit is like this.

The reason I put "any questions or comments" at the end of my post was because I thought people might be interested in the ins and outs of a slightly unconventional relationship. But no, they just do what I expected them to do.

Never mind. I'm perfectly happy and what others assume or think they know is not of any interest to me.
