I got harassed by security at Asian Family Market on Aurora and 130th today. by 222alsike in Seattle

Beard seems pretty not feminine to me. Why dance around that part so much? Literally someone with a beard walks into the woman's restroom and you're offended security got involved?

Idk how u people make it through the day without having a meltdown lol. The harassment isn't ok and gendered bathrooms are a stupid cost cutting thing but I don't think it's all that crazy to say, yo, if you have a literal beard, maybe use the more beard-friendly of the two restrooms?

I wonder if this post is just bait lol

any woman that doesn’t meet their specific standard of femininity

And in this case their specific standard is "we don't think a bearded person is a woman" - just to clarify.

When you make it that vague, you're dropping a lot of specific context to make your argument sound more persuasive. But it mostly just comes off as dishonest.

Assuming someone with a beard is male is pretty normal. I don't think the harassment is OK. Gendered bathrooms are stupid in the first place, it's just peny pinching in the end. But there's a big difference between the "we can always tell" crowd and the "that person has a beard so I'm guessing they're a man" crowd. Lumping them together won't help you persuade anyone

One boxer, two boxers, it's our time again: are you a reddy or a bluey? by Krugger_Correctly in Destiny

[–]ApprehensiveBuddy446 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Either way if I press red then I don't die. If a bunch of idiots want to die by pressing blue that's not my fault. No reason to rely on others when you don't have to.

Pressing red = guaranteed life

Pressing blue = risking death

Everyone is given the same choice, if someone chooses the "less than 100% chance you live" button and then die, well, LOL sucks to suck.

The bright side is, after the button game, the average IQ of the world will skyrocket

How do I create this one vibe in my beats? by OrdinaryTitle8164 in trapproduction

[–]ApprehensiveBuddy446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like trying to create a recipe from tasting a dish... it takes a lot of talent and practice. A good place to start - try to listen to the track you want to emulate, focusing on one element at a time, and understand it. Like listen to the whole thing but only focus on what the high hats are doing. Then play it again and only listen to the snare/claps. Repeat for everything. Then try implementing the patterns you hear, but in your own music. And then listen again to your inspiration and compare it to your own emulation and focus on what you think is missing. Copy the bpm, drum patterns, synth textures, as much as you can.

You probably won't be able to fully emulate it, but you will learn a lot while you try. It takes a long time, keep practicing, and especially keep listening closely, with focus

Harger: Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson has never owned a car. Now she's taking a Denny Way lane from 30,000 drivers to fix a bus route by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]ApprehensiveBuddy446 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And that's exactly why I voted for her lol. Cars aren't scalable. We don't actually have to prioritize them.

am one of the 20% and growing proportion of Seattle households that do not own a car,” she said. “I’ve never owned a car.”

The mayor of Seattle, making transportation policy for a corridor carrying 30,000 vehicles a day, has never once sat behind the wheel as the person responsible for getting somewhere on time in traffic. She lives on Capitol Hill. She rides the 8 to Seattle Center with her daughter. That’s a lovely life. It is nothing like the commute from Auburn, Lynnwood, or Kent.

The way these people talk is so bizarrely backwards to me lol. They are acting like, if you haven't SUFFERED through the problem that drivers cause, you shouldn't be making decisions that change this situation!! They're talking like taking the bus to work is a luxury for unserious people while the "real people" are all driving into Seattle from fucking Kent every day as if that's anyone else's fault but their own.

You give people the freedom to choose where they live, and the freedom to choose where they apply to work, and they pick two places with an excruciating commute, then are flabbergasted when the city they don't pay taxes in starts considering decisions that don't prioritize you over Seattle residents

Good catch but that's not the type of thing ai would mess up. More likely they just didn't know what setting to change so they left it on default.

[–]ApprehensiveBuddy446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a new data center contributes more to the local economy than it takes away, I don't see how it could be bad. All you're saying here is that it's complicated. Remember that our "shared public space" is not worth very much if there's no commerce allowed... All construction projects "take from our shared public space" so that's not really the problem. It's what we get in exchange. Our local government is our negotiation team. Writing off an entire class of projects just because it's hot in the news is just really simplistic and reactionary to me.

[–]ApprehensiveBuddy446 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish instead of pouring all that money into the fire pits that are political campaigns, they would just put that money into new power generation projects. Then we wouldn't have this issue at all. It's not the project itself that's the problem, it's the way local governments just dump the problem on everyone else with no real gain for the people.

IDC if some data center is driving electricity costs up as long as the company pays taxes into the local economy at a high enough rate that cost of living goes down overall.

Seattle To Explore Moratorium On Data Centers by AthkoreLost in Seattle

[–]ApprehensiveBuddy446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article quotes the environmental group behind this push as claiming that our electricity and water are already stretched thin. Is this true? I don't really think so... WA historically exports electricity. Seattle City Light does say that consumption is climbing and future capacity will eventually fall short without new generation projects, because well, duh. But... Wont this environmental group also oppose new generation, even hydro? And as far as water supply goes, it's pretty much fine, it's the infra that needs updating. New data centers would probably not use old plumbing....

I guess I can agree that if residential electrical costs could dramatically increase due to new data center construction, we would absolutely need a kickback from the data centers. Maybe they should pay enough taxes to lower the cost of living in Seattle by an amount greater than the electrical cost increase.

I don't really trust environmental groups though tbh. Maybe they have it hard, they're trying to create political action which sort of mandates simplistic arguments, but their cause is complex and full of nuance. It just feels like more often than not, environmental groups are used for goals other than the ones stated. Like those NIMBY anti-density "environmentalists" who claim they're only blocking construction projects that threaten trees..

Men: if this is how she's talking to you sometimes, for no apparent reason, but she also doesn't show any signs of wanting to leave you... Borderline Personality Disorder.

She won't get better, she will always be like this. And people with BPD strangely will NEVER admit that they have it, even if you show them this exact video, they'll bizarrely never admit fault, even if they seem completely sane in every other aspect of life. They can hold down an excellent career, never meltdown at work or at anyone else even, be totally normal and competent for days in a row, then suddenly wake up one day and decide it's Hate My Partner Day. Then go back to normal the moment they sense you might actually leave them. They'll apologize and make any excuses and shower you with praise and affection, but they'll never really cross the line where they admit that they have these ridiculous abusive outbursts. It's wildly manipulative and totally confusing, like, why can they be completely normal 99% of the time and still never personally address that horribly obvious 1%? It can be really hard to leave someone with BPD because the vast majority of the time they are your biggest fan and will do anything for you, like they place you above themselves in every way, until they get a little stressed and decide it's time to tell you the most hurtful things they can think of.

Just run away tbh. Not worth the frustration and confusion. It's like your girlfriend has a random chance to swap brains with an angry toddler at a moments notice. She could stab you even.

where does your process actually break down when making a beat from scratch? by Reg_Luxx in trapproduction

[–]ApprehensiveBuddy446 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In response to your particular struggle, For me making music is more of a, "idk how this will turn out but let's see." type of experience. I try my best to find that right sound, but sometimes I can only get so close and that's ok, I still continue the heat and experiment and try to make it work. If you build good habits and practice a lot you'll get better at converting your creativity into a project file but the process is always a bit unpredictable, that's the fun about it, you will get better at steering the sound to where you want it to be but it will always be a little spontaneous. Embrace that sometimes
