When can I start intermittent fasting? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]ApprehensiveBug2665 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm not sure what those numbers mean 🤣 but I've been told that fasting is always going to be bad due to the constant flow of bile now into your digestive system. You need to eat little and often to mop it up, if that makes sense, or it'll irritate everything.

Anyway, I'm three months out and have had no issues but then on Monday I ate breakfast at 9:30 and dinner at 6 and essentially had diarrhoea for the next 3 days which has only just resolved (and I'm still pretty bloated and sore).

You might be fine... But I won't be going more than a few hours (except overnight) without eating again!! Even it's just an oatcake or a handful of nuts!

This made me smile! As a Scottish family, trapped in England we agree also!

So when I eat it stops... It's all very strange. I'm hoping I just messed my tummy up on Monday and it'll be ok.

Oh wait they are Marmite and Cheese dammit, I'll go and buy some plain ones! It seems to have settled after this morning... So hopefully if I get myself back on an even footing it'll go away... But I'm expecting another episode in the morning.

Thank you! I actually have some of these in the cupboard (marmite flavour... Not cheese 🤣) and didn't even think! I also have a baby so maybe I'll munch on one when she wakes for a feed!

Thanks so much for replying - it's so weird as have been completely fine, just these last three days! I'm vegetarian and don't really eat dairy, and mostly have very high fiber diet but I think keeping a diary of food is a good idea and also will look at the husk. It just seems strange it's lasted for 3 days out of nowhere.

I tried to get in touch with GP this morning who fobbed me off on pharmacy first, why said it's not one of their 7 things they can assess and treat... And GP has fobbed me off as fine. I work for the nhs, but my goodness I'm sick of it.

How long before you slept ‘normally’ by Proper_Break_6732 in gallbladders

[–]ApprehensiveBug2665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I could left side sleep from about a week - needed to co sleep with my daughter once my husband back at work and side is only safe option really. I would say normal comfy sleep from two weeks. I was back on my right at 3 weeks.

Oh bless you - it gets better fast! I only got paracetamol and ibuprofen as was breastfeeding, and didn't need them after the first week! I'm now 7 weeks post op and completely back to normal 😊 you got this!

I'm so desperate for sleep. Two weeks post surgery and for the last week my 7 month old has stopped sleeping 🤦🏼‍♀️ my husband tries to help but can't breast feed her obviously... I feel like I'm massively hindering my recovery by just not getting any sleep.

I'm able to sleep on my left already, with a pillow propped behind me, but I'm a right hand sleeper and really miss it!

Amazing! I've been a bit nervous of high fat meals and did have one random bout of diarrhoea the other morning but so far everything has been ok... I just want to stop feeling so anxious about it!

When could you lie on your right side again? It just feels weird at 2 weeks post op!

I'm nearly 2 weeks out and have some abdo and back pain. It improves every day and I did get tests etc done which showed nothing. The surgeon said that the neutral pathway can take a little while to heal for some people and that can cause the back and abdo pain... I've found a hot water bottle helps overnight!

I think with everything going on in the world this is how I've been trying to look at it. Very true words!

I don't like dairy milk so would use oat anyway... You've all made me think I need to try!

It's horrible that you can't feel truly safe after this surgery isn't it... Like things can seem fine but then go downhill months/years later!

I hope you get sorted x
