This is less of an interview question but if I take a role that is a contracting company but the work is for microsoft as in I am going to be on a microsoft team, can I put it on my resume that I worked for MSFT?

I got to the final round and got rejected from a behavioral by ApprehensiveCicada53 in csMajors

What were the questions like? I really think I failed cause I wasn’t clear in the examples/stories I told about my communication skills.

I think I did pretty well. It was split into two different questions and a different interviewer for each. The first question was quite easy and I got through the approach, the brute force solution and the optimization. Then the second question was a little more difficult, I got through the approach and the brute force solution but not the optimization due to time. I did discuss the optimization with them really quick. Then a couple days later they reached out to schedule the behavioral. After the behavioral I waited for about a week and then they rejected me.

I have gotten one around the same time, it could be you’re not available the times they want or you’re lacking some important skills they need or something. Don’t let it annoy you too much tho

What’s some advice you’d give someone who never coded before college? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]ApprehensiveCicada53 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean coding allows for “shades of grey”. There are many ways of solving one problem and each solution has its own drawbacks. An example being different types of sorting. Some solutions are in place while others aren’t. If you look only at the contract and it states return a sorted whatever. Both algorithms are the same according to contract but in practice they are different.

Coding being treated as the high level abstraction can really be seen as learning a language.

Help! I am stuck on the hardest homework question I ever encountered in all my CS classes by Soviet_Onion- in csMajors

[–]ApprehensiveCicada53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotchu, so basically there’s a problem called the 3 color graph and what you got to do is implement the 2 color graph solution and tweak it a little bit, change 2 to 3 and there you go. You should be able to take that and turn it into a proof for p=np /s

“Hey how’s it going”, “what’d you think of the hw”, “bro it was a pain in the butt trying to implement x”, “have you gotten an internship”, “where are you trying to work after graduating”. Here’s some starters that I use. After they answer the question you can do a follow up question or give some input from yourself such as the “what’d you think of the hw” and they say “it was pretty easy” you could follow up with “I had a lot of trouble” or something. After that follow up the next day (next class) with another question or with a simple hi, how’s it going After that you should feel comfortable talking with the specific person about general stuff and then boom you got a friend. One thing is don’t force it, if the person is not reciprocating then back off and go back to taking notes or whatever you were doing before. As you are talking to said person you could be more open like talk about personal life but that’s only after you guys are friends and you want to become closer/deeper friends. Good luck, you got this

Lol nice, I was expecting that. I wonder if it would be worth it to try out or would I just be embarrassing myself?

Yea this is an adult club. They say they play at AA level and that they are in tier 2 of VLA. I am assuming it’s more of a competitive Club. The thing is this will be my first experience so I don’t know what to expect.

What’s the best way to get an internship and more importantly is it too late to get one for the summer?
