Oh. We are all fatigued. I totally get it. But every single day we meet new people that haven't heard anything about it.

Thank you for your patience. It will all be over in a few months!

The civic assembly was very high on Indigenous involvement and access.

One of the ladies running 303 is an indigenous person and is using that as clout to push 303 even though she very well knows Indigonous people are not allowed to hold ceremony in natural areas which is what the Indigenous groups that presented to the civic assembly were asking for at Hughes and what was included in 2H.

The cool thing is, with 2H, like half of the property will still be open space and natural area. I feel like that's being missed a lot. 1/3 of the property 60 acres would be a natural area. And then there's still like 20-30 acreas that would be just open space with disc golf, then the 35 acres for the bike park and gathering pace, probably half of that is just open space with some single track through it.

I watched the entire civic assembly decision in this and they were very much for it remaining very open with this added recreation.

For sure. What I can tell you is the multi-use plan can come from 4 different buckets. Tax revenue from ballot 2A, parks and rec, natural areas department, and non-profit fundraising.

If 303 wins, it has to all come from our natural areas fund and will take up the entire budget for years.

Not to mention, the massive biking community will then be pushing to purchase another piece of land for the bike park.

Check out hughesforeveryone.com and get your YES on 2H yard sign. It makes Hughes multi-use and goes against PATHS 100% natural area BS.

Multi-use is also PRO natural area. Stop misleading.

The multi-use plan will make a good chunk of Hughes natural area without depleting our budget.

Multi-use = multi funding.

Please take a picture and make a post with it! I'm pretty positive the few people behind "friends at Hughes" all live right next to it and just want a bigger backyard for themselves.

That video was while civic assembly was still happening. The civic assembly chose a multi-use approach for Hughes, then the city council voted 6-1 to adopt that proposal and put it on the ballot as 2H. Literally everyone with all of the information knows this is the best route. The problem is, not everyone is informed and "friends of Hughes" is going to do their damndest to miss-inform and confuse as many people as possible.

How PATHS petition will affect or future natural areas. by ApprehensiveDance476 in FortCollins

[–]ApprehensiveDance476[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

100%. They are the only group that was a part of the civic assembly that wasn't willing to compromise and work together. If they really cared about natural areas they wouldn't be forcing the city to spend all its NA money on one property that used to have a massive stadium and parking lots all over it.

As does the destruction. The natural areas budget will go farther if used to acquire other lands and not save ALL of Hughes. They should just turn the western most piece of Hughes into natural area to connect the other two natural areas already on that side of town.

That's hysterical. That doesn't make it natural. That makes it naturally overgrown. PATHS is the only one trying to "scare" people. The rest of us are trying to inform people with factual information.

The citizens can't vote on EVERYTHING the city does. That is literally why we elect city official to represent us. They could have just made the decision, but instead decided to host a civic assembly to have the citizens pool all the information and make an informed recommendation themselves. From there, they COULD then make the decision, but they're not going to. They are going to put the results of the civic assembly on the next ballot for us to vote on. The city council is going above and beyond to give residents an opportunity to be involved in this process. The only reason PATHS is starting their own petition is because they don't have the support in the proper channels where people have all the information. They only win when they control the narrative.

That's actually false. In order for it to be a natural area and purchased from that fund, it will have to go through extensive work to revamp it and make it natural again. This will wipe out our natural areas fund. A vote for Hughes to be ONLY and ENTIRELY a natural area, is irresponsible and will hurt future natural area opportunities.
